First, we arrived at the Victoria to check in at 5pm to be told there was a ‘maintenance issue’ and we had to move to their sister hotel on another street. No offer of a refund was mentioned, and we’d received no prior warning that this was happening before we arrived at the hotel.
The Mornington Victor was where we ended up, and it had a pleasant, modern, well-equipped and clean room but there was no sound proofing, a lot of aggressive shouting and threatening language from other guests. Doors slamming for around 2 hours in the adjacent room. Reception would have been close enough to hear it and didn’t do anything about the behaviour.
Initially we were booked to stay 2 nights, but we didn’t feel safe to stay at the hotel for a second night. They refused to issue a partial refund for the second night despite having moved us from the hotel we initially booked.
