I’ve stayed before and it’s usually good. This time there were a couple of things wrong - a blind that was broken and the shower was tepid. I mentioned it to the manager who said she’d get it fixed and will offer me a discount on my next stay.

Waited 40 minutes before being checked in. I was in troubadour room. The mirror was dumped on the floor not even on the wall, bathroom sink had hair in it. Not ideal when you want to bush your teeth. Was sat having a tea and notice mould and very old spilt liquid. Very uncomfortable bed, itchy and hard. Shame as was recommended to me but from the moment I walked it it was awful. Better off on the park bench

Good: Attractive building very conveniently positioned. Pleasant bar and dining areas, friendly staff. Poor: Bathroom. Toilet seat and cold basin tap not fixed properly, plus a leak behind the basin. Bedroom window wouldn't stay open, had to wedge something to prevent it closing. Finally, and perhaps I'm being naive, but I presumed that the room would have air conditioning. I think, on such a sweltering weekend, this was essential.

The property was once a lovely place to stay, as have stayed in the past... This time it was dirty, had to ask for extra towels and glasses, also had to ask for toilet roll, and asked for more coffee and tea as only x2 on arrival in room.... Asking staff for anything took at least an hour to receive.... Could do with staff who care about there jobs and where they work.

I was very nervous because it was my first overseas trip in a long time, but the staff were very kind and treated me and my son well. I stayed here to go to Highclere Castle, and they arranged a taxi for us, which was very helpful. I would definitely like to stay here again when I visit Newbury. Thank you very much.

The standard of cleanliness in the room was way below an acceptable standard and was nothing like the room you advertised. When we booked this room we booked it in good faith expecting to stay in a clean lovely room as advertised by you.

Pleasant Hotel, thou our room was in the converted barn, hence water damage to the exterior door and wall. When entering room you had to walk through puddles to enter.

Room is massive. We walked in thinking it was going to be a small room but it’s really big, very spacious. The bed is unbelievably comfy. Recommend the stay as it’s a one minute walk from town centre. Service is very good and people there are lovely.

5/5 for everything. Staff was kind and helpful. Restaurant was delicious and offered great promos for food/drink and even had trivia night. Room and facilities are well kept. Won our group over with the heated towel warmers. Absolutely adorable room. Beds were so comfortable. Price and location right in the middle of all sorts of stores, cafes, etc was unbeatable.
