The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit tired but our room was clean and had everything we needed. I couldn't get the TV to work but that wasn't much of a problem. There was a loud whirring noise on and off on the second night woke us up but it did stop eventually. The hotel was reasonable priced and close to the aquatics centre where my son was competing.

We used to always stay at this hotel years ago when visiting our daughter in Liverpool University so wanted to revisit. Great location by Sefton Park and Lark lane. Nice and peaceful room but as previous people have mentioned the hotel needs a little tlc and the restaurant and bar were closed although we were really pleased to hear that they will be reopening next week. On the morning when we were leaving lots of gardening and ground maintenance was taking place in readiness for this which was great to see. Really hope that this place becomes a success again as it used to be a lovely hotel and even a wedding venue. The high ceilings and fountain/statues are impressive and really deserves to be reestablished as the great hotel it used to be so I wish the new owners lots of luck. Staff were friendly and rooms were cleaan- an excellent price and would definitely stay again.

Had to change rooms because booked room was in very poor decorative taste like being in a brothel. Staff very helpful and changed our room. Dog biscuits and hair all over the floor, but warm and comfortable. Furniture could do with updating as well. Will not be staying again.

Hassan was a great host, provided great service upon arrival and helped out when required too. I stayed here twice in 1 week. Great location, across from Sefton park and easy routes into the city.

Overall very good. Shared a room with 5 adults making it £55 for two nights each. Very friendly manager. Room was clean and had a small selection of teas, coffees and soaps. Codes on the doors with 24/7 access for night outs.

The staff were very friendly on check in. However the warren of doors and corridors to my room, no dead lock on my door and comings and goings left me feeling unsafe in my room. I wouldn’t recommend this for single female travellers.

6/10 Good

Summary: hotel is under renovation. It will almost certainly look better once that's done. Specifically: When I visited, all common areas on the ground floor were under renovation, and the rooms themselves could use some renovation of their own. Note that the listing is inaccurate: the bar does not actually exist (yet). Additionally, various aspects of the rooms are poorly maintained. For example, there was a substantial crack in the wall beneath the window in my room. The shower was sputtery and somewhat clogged. The window struggled to keep out the wind. And the sound insulation was not impressive. All that being said: the building is very impressive, and even a little bit of renovation would really make a huge difference. The bed was comfortable, and the location was convenient. Ultimately, it did the job, I just wish the listing hadn't lied about breakfast in the bar.

The hotel is set across from the park with lovely views Are room was a big room with 4 poster bed and looked like it was been renovated and looked lovely Unfortunately the hotel lift was not working and we had to use the steps which was not good for my other half as she has a bad ankle & we had to change rooms from the top floor to one with 2 flight of steps

The reception staff were friendly. Reception very small and were given a contact number if there were any problems, as I dont think they have some one in reception all the time. Hotel in need of updating and very tired. However, rooms were clean, ,beds comfy, room warm. Was quiet, so slept well. Basic, but fine for what we needed. Shower was hot,and they provided everything you need for an over night stay. Didnt have breakfast as meeting friends at local cafe so cant comment on that.

The hotel is in a good location although it is in a residential area, it is close to bars and restaurants. It does not have a bar, but local bars restaurants are located 5 mins walk away. Room 44 was nice and spacious room, however, the bed mattress was worn and needs replacing, dips on one side when sat on the bed and uncomfortable. The room overlooks the park which was nice. The hotel looks tired and in need of an update. The staff were helpful and polite on checking in. The reason for the low score is because of the comfort , had a poor night sleep, it would have been more pleasant a stay, if there had not been a very strong pungent smell of cannabis/skunk which kept us awake in the night and was nauseating! Not what i expected when considering the price for 1 night stay, which was £150! Woke up next day to a very heavy headache and nausea. No staff around when we checked out at 8.30 next morning to address this issue. We wont be staying here again. The hotel staff need to address the horrible smell and give the rooms a bit of an uplift.

Great hotel, sitting on the edge of Sefton Park. Easy check in even though I was late getting down from Glasgow. Hassan the hotel manager, WhatsApp me my room access key allowing me to go directly to my room without having to worry about the late check in. Plenty of parking spaces and costs £5 for 24 hours, on par with parking in the city. Hassan also upgraded my room to a lovely suit which was very much appreciated, roll top bath, large double shower, and a bed that could sleep a family. Room and bathroom spotless. If im back in the area I would have no hesitation in stopping in this hotel again. A short walk from the hotel there are fabulous restaurants and bars to enjoy an evening out. And then there is the park on your doorstep, well worth a stroll to walk off your dinner.

I stayed for one night and unfortunately ran into problems from the moment I arrived. I couldn’t access the car park because no one answered the intercom so I parked in the street. Upon entering reception I noticed a mildly unpleasant aroma but at least the receptionist was friendly enough. He proved helpful too when called upon to solve the problem of the malfunctioning door entry system to my room and so I headed into town. On my return later in the evening the external door entry system to the hotel didn’t work either. When I finally got inside, the door entry to my room also failed again and I had to call the manager just to get in. Things didn’t improve much once inside: the cold‑water tap didn’t work although at least the hot did. The following morning I discovered too late that the toilet wouldn’t flush. One saving grace was the bed was comfortable and the room clean. Overall, far too many basic issues for a stress‑free stay
