I really enjoyed my stay here! The host was very friendly and accommodating. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Safe area with many walkable restaurants and businesses nearby. Pool was lovely.

The room was clean and when we needed more towels or anything, we got it promptly. Daniel was very helpful, polite, and nice. He gave us a lot of information about the area and helped us navigate the town where there are no street addresses. There was coffee and tea in the room. His family also owns the mini market so it was convenient.

Daniel and staff were the most hospitable! The place in a hidden gem. We travelled as a family of 10. Felt very safe. Great communication from the beginning. They all went above and beyond to ensure we had everything in order. The location was key. Easy access to hot springs and local restaurants. Oh and can’t forget the view of Arnel volcano - WOW! If you can book mountain view- do it! Breakfast was their typical meal and was delicious. We would definitely be back again!

Decent and clean room. Since it's by the main street, traffic sound is a bother for us. The toilet flush quit working.. luckily no mess... Included breakfast was not a buffet style but a get to choose from a couple of options. Also no coffee maker in the room.

Perfect location! We stayed at the villas and they were very clean and new. We were a little scared about the noise reviews but we didn’t feel any in the villas and we traveled with a 4 month old baby!

Waterfall Trip

Shockingly great place to stay. Worrisome when pulling up for checkin but very comfortable for four of us to stay in for a couple nights. Teenagers had plenty of room, easy less than a block walk to a dozen restaurants.

My stay at La Fortuna

Overall it was a pleasant stay and the hosts are truly wonderful. While the location isn't central, it features restaurants and their operators nearby. My only complaint is about the noise from the road which really penetrates the room. The breakfast was awesome!

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment at the back of the property on the second floor. The room was updated and clean. Walking distance to restaurants. It is attached to a convenience store for beer, snacks and alcohol. Pool was clean. Also has a whole bar area that you can leverage by the pool. Property can be a little noisy in the morning when everyone is going to work since it is located directly on the main road to La Fortuna.

4/10 Fair

The rooms shown on the website create a different impression from what we were provided. The 3 rooms on top of the liquor shop are terrible to live in. They are in bad condition throughout and at best like a store room to dump stuff in. No closets, no storage. All stuff on old flimsy and ugly shelf like structures. We also faced issues with toilet paper dispensers that were not set up correctly. Road noise is an issue. The AC was erratic and would not recognize the room temperature correctly. Nothing went well. The reason this made to 2 stars is the breakfast that the ladies do their best to make per your liking and the location near la fortuna attractions. I guess the suite style rooms next to the pool are the real deal, away from road noise and also better maintained and decorated. The rooms we stayed in should not even be offered for booking. Not coming back to this place again.

The owners were very nice and helpful. The hot water was limited in the shower. The beds and room were comfortable with a nice sitting area outside. The main problem was that the room was on the main road and very noisy from traffic.

We stayed in one of the new, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom units at the back of the property. It was beautiful, and literally steps from the pool. Our kids (7 & 9) loved the pool. It was perfect because it wasn't too deep for them. They could stand everywhere, which gave us peace of mind. Daniel was an excellent host. Excellent communicator and very helpful with suggestions for local restaurants and things to do. We would definitely stay there again!

This place is a hidden Gem. Very nice and new rooms. We had a very well-equipped kitchen. You see the staff cleaning everything every day more than any other place we stayed at. Fantastic private parking with a gate highly secure. Nice part of town you can walk to many restaurants and local grocery store. Property manager is very nice and highly responsible operator. Pool is very nice and well maintained. If you need to stay in that area this is your best option.

Good place for short stay in La Fortuna

Such a lovely place, however work is needed to fix it up a bit. Daniel is a great host, very kindand happy to help with anything. The only problem for us was the road noise. Door needs replacing as massive gap so feels like you are sleeping outside. Great outdoor space and pool. For anyone staying in rooms at the front of property - earplugs are a must due to the road noise

The people at the hotel were extremely kind and helpful to us. Great rate and location. Air conditioner worked well and the rooms also included a refrigerator. My kids said the pool was cold but there was an outdoor area with large bbq and tables. The main complaint I would make is that the doors and walls weren’t very thick. We could hear the street noise and late night drinkers at the liquor store. Other than that we were happy. I’d still recommend this place if you’re looking for a great location in La Fortuna and safe place for your family stay.

Not so good stay

The bathroom was very tiny and some bad odor was coming out. The shower was very slowly draining and hence collecting puddle of water. One of the celling light was not working and never got fixed. Room service was done only once during our 3 days stay. The pics showed on the website are from their nicer apartment and confusing. Good part: The owner was apologetic for our bad experience. He helped us to arrange taxies for local transportation.

6/10 Good

This place is incredibly convenient—our Ubers arrived within 1-2 minutes every time, and it’s centrally located, making it easy to get anywhere. The host, Dani, is very responsive and flexible, even preparing breakfast for us to take on the go. A few things to note: The property is located above a liquor store, which at first didn’t give the best impression from an American perspective. However, it turned out to be quite useful, doubling as a convenience store. The rooms are a bit outdated—we had a wall gecko in ours, and instead of full duvets, they provide throw blankets. That said, it feels like a safe motel with a friendly front desk staff. If you’re looking for a luxury stay, this isn’t the place for you. But if you want an affordable, highly convenient spot with quick Uber access, a handy store downstairs, and downtown La Fortuna just three minutes away, this is a solid choice. The internet was fast, the A/C was ice cold (we even had to turn it off at times), and overall, I’d rate it a 3/5. Would I stay here again? Sure—if I’m on a budget or just looking for a practical place to crash.

Positives: Rooms are very clean and air conditioned, fridge & coffee maker in room, beds are comfy the owner, Daniel is so friendly & helpful and nothing is too much trouble, nice relaxed pool area out back, felt safe there, close to shops & restaurants and it’s a great base to get transportation to various places, If you could get rid of the traffic on the road this hotel would be a great stay. Negatives: Noise, oh my God the noise! The traffic noise is another level to the point that on our first night I was sat in bed at 4am looking online to see if I could book into a different hotel for the rest of our stay. It was the busiest weekend of the year, I had no chance. Up til about 11pm there is noise from guys drinking and playing music outside the liquor store underneath the rooms..then all through the night there is a lot of traffic noise. There is no sound barrier. I was glad to move on just to get some sleep. It’s a shame that the noise levels marked our stay as the hotel itself was a nice little hotel

Daniel is an nice host, communicative and said no to anything. Main issue is that depending on the room you book you will have a nice or a bad experience there. The pool looked fine but inside was a hose, that gave me the impression about some kind of maintenance happening over there. Never seeing that before. The cafeteria, where the breakfast is served, is wide open in outdoors and next to the pool. Yep, the one from images. Place is not clean thoroughly and microwave, bbq were nasty. The cleaning towel looked disgusting. That, plus that there was a cat and a dog surrounding this area, gave us the ick eat there. If your room its in front of the pool, you will have a nice stay here. Those are the best rooms in the Villas as they look well-preserved and noise factor is not present. Sadly for us, the room we booked (hoping to get the nice one from photos) was the one in front the main street, above the liquor store. The room is so small, it has 2 full mattress beds buy should be for just 1 full/queen bed. Excellent mattress by the way, felt super soft. The bathroom was also tiny and it has a water leak in the base of the sink. The a/c was ok, it was weirdly placed so from time to time we turn it off as it hits directly to the person in the first bed on the left. There are no wardrobes, no place for you to hang towels or clothing. The room’s paint is peeled off. The parking spot was messy too, weird to enter from a store. Bad signaling, confusing to access villas.
