Hidden Gem

What made this stay special was the host Maria- she made us feel like family . It’s situated in a neighborhood downhill from Jardim Botanico that connects to the University of Coimbra . Relaxing and quiet place. Older but with great character.

Bizarre, but in a good way

This is a giant, rambling old mansion that has been converted into lodging. I wish we'd had more time to discuss its history with our host Maria. We wound up here because our original choice had a fire, and we had to find a place at the last minute. We were here to tour the university and it's about a 25 minute hike. In the end, our room was comfy, cool and quiet, and that's what's important to us. BTW, Uber works really well in Coimbra.

Antes de nada, matizar que no es un hotel al uso, sino una casa (colonial, antigua) de huéspedes. María, la dueña, amabilísima. A tener en cuenta: el baño no es privado, si bien es cierto que, al menos el de la primera planta, está en el mismo piso, enfrente. Por tanto, solo lo hemos usado nosotros. No tiene parking, sino que se aparca en la calle, si no es muy tarde con cierta facilidad. Si pagáis allí, ojo, metálico. No tienen para tarjeta. No hay servicio de habitaciones. Para una estancia larga, os lo currais vosotros. El desayuno, curioso, espectacular.
