2/10 Terrible

I booked two rooms as a last minute stay. Immediately on bookimg I had two phone calls that I missed as I was in my way to the accommodation. I then received a text message to tell me they could not accommodate my booking and to cancel. I was adviced by Expedia not to cancel as this would be against the cancellation policy - I am still trying to get a refund and will probably have to esculate the process

Nice place very clean, John is a great bloke. Only downside was there was no key to lock the door while out of room

2/10 Terrible

Worst place please avoid

Absolutely terrible place! Firstly they told to go to a different address than advertised, then when i arrived there was water pouring down from the ceiling in the reception room. No electricity for about an hour. I was a given just a single room when i paid for an ensuite. Then got told off for using the washing machine! Avoid this place at all costs

Good hospitality

Joseph went out of his way to help me. He gave me a cuppa and found my missing iPad.

1 night for work

Single room, basic but functional. Bed fairly comfortable. Some confusion about check in/my booking but was resolved easily. Affordable Was quite nosiy in the morning, walls are thin/sound proofing not great so you can hear people coming and going.

2/10 Terrible

Wanted to leave for work at 5am but the door was locked and had to wait until 6am-bloody annoying. Smelt heavy of African cooking which is off putting. Also contact details do not work. Terrible place

6/10 Okay

Clean and fine for our needs.

We stayed in a double room for the purposes of visiting Alton Towers. The location was perfect being about 40 minutes away. The room was basic but clean and comfortable with a private shower and toilet. No tv but this was fine. Downstairs had a communal kitchen and seated area which was clean. I only used facilities to make a cup of tea. Joseph (manager) was welcoming, friendly and was always nearby to answer any questions. £20 refundable deposit was required for the room key. Fireworks went off first night which was annoying but no fault of the property. Free parking on one side of street which was ideal. Walls were a bit thin so you could hear doors opening and closing so earplugs advisable. But overall ok for our needs - to lay our heads for a couple of nights.

Not sure what to make of it

Very bizarre set up. Set up as HMO rather than B&B. No Tv. Your not allowed a front door key, so staff come to door when you leave and enter. Although staff are polite, quite alot of miscommunications. Room was not very clean. Shower was blocked and caused a flood. It is in a very bad area and quite noisy till gone 2am. Can hear staff downstairs loud tv till that time too. Very strong smells permeating building. Did use laundry facilities which was nice. Used as a basepoint to visit: Alton Towers,Alton Towers Waterpark and Trentham Estate. Close to Train Station. Close by to shops. I prefer proper B&B/ Hotel set up: Allowed to come as go as you please,tv, privacy. Staff aren't sitting in common area all day.

2/10 Terrible

Terrible place

Unfortunately one of the worst places I've ever stayed. No keys to the room or front door provided - the staff member stating it was policy as guests lose them! No way of locking the door upon leaving the room. Bathroom was down the corridor past other rooms and did not appear to be private as described. Dusty sink. Barely any loo paper that ran out. No wifi detected. This is clearly a barely-adapted private house. Inner front door handle came off in the hand! Nobody around in the early morning so no way of locking the front door behind me. I felt insecure throughout the thankfully short stay.

Not good

Thecproperty wasnt what i expected. Lots of student lets on road & this was probably one too. Steep stairs to room, no ensuite, no tea coffee facilities. Communal kitchen which was nice but no cutlery, cups etc for weekend or short stays. Occupants of room next to mine having loaud argument lots of swearing. Sam room along landing, occupants having loud discussion? This was afternoon so god knows what its like at night. Didnt stick around to find out. Didnt feel safe & because of all other issues decided to book into hotel. So have lost my payment i guess but so much more happy away from that place

4/10 Poor

Stay elsewhere.

Don’t expect any privacy you won’t get any. Room was filthy. Bathroom hadn’t been cleaned at all, there were toothpaste spit and strangers hair in the sink. The toilets hadn’t been cleaned or flushed. The desk hasn’t been cleaned properly and was sticky from previous occupants food. The drawers had trash in them. The mirror in the room has someone’s dried popped zit on it. Absolutely shocking. There was no towel in the room. They don’t give keys to the room, instead some poor bloke is on call 24 hours a day to let you in and out. You can’t close the door to your room when you leave so anyone also on the property can just go in. You can hear everyone and what everyone is doing in the house. There was litter everywhere in front of the front door in the street. As a female solo traveler I felt very unsafe by the fact that a couple of random dudes would know when where I was at all times and if I was leaving and going ect. When I raised that concern the person I charge (who I never saw but instead screamed at me over the phone) wouldn’t understand.
