Booked 4 nights in this place and checked out after 1! Firstly advertised as parking on site,there is no parking on site,when I mentioned this to staff that I’d booked due to it having parking they didn’t really seem that bothered. The rooms pictured must have been taken on the day of opening as they certainly don’t look like this anymore ,grubby and tired,do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else

Booked a twin room. Was offered an upgrade for a cost and was then given a single bed not twin. Complained and was then put into a standard room and given a few beverages to ‘upgrade’ the room. No fridge etc. Room also had a bad drain smell but after all the room changes and hassle just put up with it. Reception were good enough to refund the upgrade cost in the morning but the overall experience was not the best.

This was a lovely place to spend 3 nights. Yes, the rooms are a bit dated, but were spotlessly clean and well serviced during the stay. All staff were suberb, from check in to bar staff, including one who helped me with a minor key problem while not actually working. Superb location for cathedral, shopping and river. I can't comment on the food as it suited me to eat elsewhere.

Great little hotel will be coming back

We booked to go to the races and choose ye old Talbot and glad we did the hotel is bit dated but it goes with the hotel which is an old building and quirky managed to book the four poster bed which is comfy and had good night's sleep after the races we decided to eat there and rather than pick something of main course we went for 6 starters and food was excellent standard and well worth the money only downside which was stated no car park but there is one next door £11.00 for the night and not sure if was the boiler but came on during night did make nit of a noise
