The staff and the pets were all great! There was a minor mistake with our room and it was immediately rectified, resulting in us getting a room upgrade. The breakfast options were awesome as well. From healthy to standard. Gluten-free and vegan dishes as well. We took Uber everywhere and it was very affordable. Preferred that to navigating the traffic. Driving around would have stressed us out and I mean, we're on vacation, lol. Definitely would stay here again.

This is a lovely, quiet and safe property with a fabulous outdoor sun trap by the pool for sunbathing and enjoying the lovely views of San Jose. It is an easy drive, road is windy but its very close to Escazu shopping centres. The location is extremely quiet and the staff are fabulous - very kind and thoughtful. Highly recommended!!

Comfortable, friendly stay

We stayed two nights at the start of our trip. The hotel arranged a taxi for us (Uber would probably be cheaper). Traffic was heavy so took about 50 mins or so, but it should be quicker. Hotel is quiet, and nice location on a hill. The pool and gardens are nice, plus the resident cats and dog keep you company in the grounds. Breakfast was made to order from a good set of options, and really nice. Room was good size and comfortable. Only downside, there was not much within easy walking distance. We got an Uber into the city (super easy) and a bus back (not so easy). Then ordered from Just Eat for dinner and ate out in the gardens.

Lovely property in an old converted home. Excellent staff and good food. Comfortable room. Our mini split hvac didn’t work so we were a bit chilly. Otherwise a very pleasant stay. Especially enjoyed the dog and cats!

The owner could not have been any kinder and more helpful…He attended to detail and even upgraded us to a bigger room! The breakfast was truly amazing as well with multiple options and included in our room rate!! Beautiful view looking over San Jose below, especially at night! Infinity pool and sitting areas both by the pool as well as inside the common areas. My husband and I WILL be back to this amazing place when we return next year!!! Took us about 50 mins to get to the airport due to road construction going on at this time, but I bet it would take half that time if not rush hour or road work happening. Safe property, gated parking, and we had a really nice veranda to enjoy, too!

We love this place and stay often when in San Jose. Staff is great and feels homey. Unfortunately this stay was not good… after traveling for 48 hours in very little sleep I winked up to a gas powered weed trimmer doing yard work at 7:30 am which’s continued till we checked out at 11. I know yard has to be kept up and maintained - but before 9 am - come on. A bit disappointed.

Would've given this place a higher rating if it wasn't for the bad experience we had on our last day. There was a miscommunication on breakfast times from the staff, although they made it seem it was our fault and like we were crazy. The bald guy that sits in the front has a horrible attitude and definitely gives off the vibe that he just doesn't want to be there. The way he treated us and spoke to us on the last day of our stay proves he should not be in hospitality/service and is the main reason for my low rating. The saving grace were the sweet ladies in the kitchen that went out of their way to ensure we left to the airport fed and tried their best to ammend the situation. Overall, location is decent and for the price it makes sense. Place is outdated and there were lots of little bugs crawling in our room, including spiders. Breakfast is good but I hope after this incident they fire that bald guy and make some changes.

My husband and I stayed at Posada el Quijote for our honeymoon. Upon first arrival (at 10:30pm) we were feeling a little uneasy. This hotel is a little far away from the city…it was very dark and we couldn’t see the property well. We were thinking….Did we make a mistake? That all changed the moment we woke up the next morning. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The pool, the view, the architecture are all stunning. The breakfast is so filling and great tasting (lots of variety too!). But most of all, the STAFF. Alcides was there almost every day and he was fantastic. He helped us book all of our excursions, even going so far as to call on our behalf when one of the tour guides was late. He answered any and all questions we had, recommended tons of great places to go, and it truly felt like he cared about us personally. The other staff were all very kind too, but Alcides really went above and beyond to be welcoming. The room itself was clean and modest. Perfect for what we needed. In our opinion, one of the best parts about this hotel is that it is so QUIET. We stayed 8 days and maybe saw 10 other people. We enjoyed having the pool to ourselves nearly every morning, walking the grounds and enjoying our quiet retreat. The common areas are also very comfortable and welcoming. We never had a problem with getting food delivered (UberEats) or getting picked up as the location is clearly marked with multiple signs. We’ll definitely be back! TLDR: 10/10 would recommend!
