The area is safe plus the B&B is within a locked gate. There is only a glass door on the entry however there is a shade to draw for privacy. Beds were tolerable but not great. Very clean and convenient to everything. Host is great and allowed us to leave bags on property until check in. Neighbors (right outside of gate) were very loud until early morning hours often revving motorcycle in the alley. All in all I do recommend.

The property is situated in the middle of the historic area and is within walking distance of everything—street markets, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. It is in a perfect location! There is a Lidl supermarket one or two blocks from the apartment, which is very convenient. The host is over-the-top gracious and very helpful. He responds to messages within a minute or less, and he has a wealth of information about the city. Palermo is a lively city, full of tourists, restaurants, and a variety of activities. Life is always happening and in progress. The historic area does not feel like a "sit on the beach", calm type of area. There is noise and life everywhere. It is beautiful, magical, and for a westerner, it feels like you have just stepped back in time—what I would call old Europe.
