8/10 Good

A lovely old building with uneven floors and stairs that made walking around funny! Room was comfortable and clean, had everything we needed. Breakfast was nice as was the owner. No complaints, except perhaps the limited ale/beer - could have had more variety of Hobson or other local breweries than lager/cider which meant we only stayed for one pint, before finding a pub that had beer we enjoyed. Shame really as it was a lovely old pub

Talbot Hotel one night stay

Spent a pleasant night with my wife at The Talbot Hotel and we were well looked after by Craig and his colleagues. The hotel dates back to the 1600s and is very atmospheric and full of history. Although no evening meal was available the full English breakfast in the morning was excellent. Would stay again.

6/10 Okay

The room's windows were "welded" shut with 100 years of old paint and could not be opened and with no aircon and hot weather the heat was unbearable - a fan was finally supplied! The bathroom toilet kept partially flushing, on its own volition every minute and even with the bedroom door shut, it sounded like a a perpetual whimpering dog all-night! Finally, there was no on site parking and I had to park the car some distance away in a public car park.

The hotel overall was good but dated; fine for an overnight stop. The shower was good. Beds were comfortable. Staff were excellent. Breakfast was plentiful and freshly cooked.

I’d pay more and travel further - to not return

It was close to the wedding venue and had an OK breakfast. The staff were quite helpful but it was badly let down by the smell in the place which was not great and also dowsed with cheap air sprays making it hard to breath (I have asthma). The bed was ok and seemed clean despite the odd stain that hadn’t washed out of the sheet. The shower was good and clean but the bathroom had mould elsewhere and paint/plaster coming off the ceiling.

This is an inn with character, convenient as a stopping place between the Birmingham area and Shropshire and the Welsh borders.

Have stayed here before, and as before, we got a friendly welcome, nice clean rooms and a good breakfast in the morning. Spot on thanks.

Quick weekend getaway

A fantastic find in a delightful little country town surrounded by beautiful countryside. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful and happily recommended other places to eat that evening as the kitchen was closed when we arrived. Proper pub inside as well with great beers and cider on pump. Would happily stay here again!

September 2022

We enjoyed our stay. The building has lots of history which the owner was very knowledgeable. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and the breakfast excellent using locally sourced products. We definitely recommend this hotel

Excellent value B&B

Hotel has character and looks dated. However, it is excellent value! My twin room was comfortable, large and with an updated, modern shower. Evening meal not served on a Sunday (day of my stay) since lunch is served 2-5pm. Breakfast was excellent. Staff welcoming and helpful.
1-night trip

6/10 Okay

Staff were lovely and very accommodating, breakfast was delish (full English) served with a smile. However the room I was in needed a good spring clean, bedding I could not fault, but needed a really good hoover, wall wiped down where tea/coffee facilities were and the shower tiles given a good scrub down. In perspective though for a B&B in a beautiful village for that price it was a bargain.

Talbot stay.

Overnight stay re grt grandchild's 2nd birthday. Roo. Comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast. Friendly service. On reflection as heating doesn't come pn till 10.00pm an extra blanket would have been welcome.
