The pool was very nice and the staff were totally on point throughout the place. Unfortunately, the room was equipped with the loudest air conditioner and longest refilling toilet tank I've ever personally witnessed, which made it difficult to sleep between the two (literally and figuratively speaking). The toilet flush button eventually got stuck, so I let them know at the desk when I was heading out, with the hopes that their fix would also end its lengthy tank fill time. It did not. The switch for the air con didn't work either. Not only was it 30 decibels too loud to serve as background noise while trying to get to sleep; I had to leave the room to make calls. Room was also equipped with circa 1920 safe. Was just some box with a hole in the top for something to slot in and lock it, I presume, but that something was nowhere to be found in the room, so had to take my valuables with me, which obviously isn't ideal given the city's reputation for muggings etc. Lastly, there was a towel shoved under the mattress. I wasn't brave enough to inspect it, so maybe it was totally clean. Instead, I just shifted the mattress back and forth to flatten out the slope it was making the mattress form, washed my hands, and headed for a Boteca to drown the thought in gin and tonic. Place would be getting 1-star from me, if it wasn't for the helpful staff.
