we LOVED the staff, each morning David and Melania greeted us for desayuno and made our dining experience memorable by taking excellent care of us! We will definitely be back to this resort and will tell others about this magical place! Beautiful location overlooking one of the nicest beaches in the area. The hotel provided everything necessary for a wonderful experience. The rooms were clean, modern and generously proportioned. My only suggest for improvement would be the installation of washroom doors in the rooms with two beds (... it's an OK layout for couples, but a little awkward sharing a double with our teen kids). All-in-all, a great resort with great staff.

The property is advertised as beachfront and it is not. You also have to walk up and down a very long steep incline to get from the parking lot to your room.

Physically fit only

Long walks to get anywhere and you are either going up or down. Then to be on the third floor. I’m exhausted New year eves dinner was disappointing, service was slow, our shower you had to push a button and hold it to shower. Called, 3 days never fixed it.

Everything about the Bungalows was excellent except the food and drinks. The room was fantastic and the front desk staff was very helpful and accommodating. They chased us down into the parking lot after we checked out to advise us we had an Expedia credit and they wanted to refund us the amount. Thanks for that. My only qualm was with the drinks and the food at the restaurant. They have a great happy hour deal on drinks by the pool in the afternoons. Problem is the booze is HEAVILY diluted. I finally ordered a martini as an experiment and it was so watered down I couldn’t even taste the gin. Which is basically all a martini is. Wild. We had dinner one night at the restaurant and it was mediocre at best. The seafood appetizer was frozen seafood in jarred pasta sauce. Our server brought out my wife’s main course and then asked me if I wanted to order something to eat after he had taken both our orders earlier. No big deal on the service as they were busy with a tour of retirees so I understand. But the food was lackluster. The chefs are obviously competent but they need to use better ingredients. No other dining options in the area unless you drive up to Samara, so they should really concentrate on improving the food. Once that is in play I would recommend Nammbu Bungalows without reservation.

This place was the highlight of our trip! The room was spacious and clean. The property grounds were immaculate and gorgeous! The staff was helpful and friendly and the food was delicious! The pool overlooking the sea was awesome! Samara is a short drive away and the beach is within walking distance from the property! We highly recommend this place!

Le service n’est pas du tout en lien avec le luxe du lieu. Absolument pas traité comme un client Gold; alors que la chambre était prête, arrivé à 13h30, on m’a dit qu’il fallait que j’attende l’heure officielle d’enregistrement (15h00). Pas très pro. Je n’avais pas pris l’option sourire (payante), donc pas reçu à l’accueil. J’ai dû rappeler pas moins de 4 fois que j’avais droit à un coupon de $25, vraiment pénible. La chambre choisie avait une vue mer; pas de vue en entrant dans la chambre . Ils l’ont répondu « ce sont les photos qu’on met weir le site mais seulement quelques chambres ont vue mer » Finalement, ils m’ont dégradé de niveau de chambre pour que j’obtienne vue mer. Piscine au personnel très bruyant (conversations bruyantes entre eux, talkie walkie en mode « forte ». Tous les compléments horriblement chers. Bref, on comprend la philosophie de cet établissement pas du tout axé sur le service. À 300 euros la nuit, c’est très en-deçà du niveau requis. Notre pire hôtel sur les 20 nuits passées au Costa Rica.

Beautiful resort with a beautiful view Carrillo of beach. The pool was amazing. The staff was friendly and welcoming. If you need to go to town it is a $15 taxi ride.

Nice hotel and property.

Our stay was very enjoyable. The property is very hilly and with bad knees it made it difficult to get around. But the hotel moved us to a room beside the office and on the ground floor which made everything easier for us.

I had the misfortune of staying at Nammbú, and as a Costa Rican and avid traveler (who visited over 30 properties in 2024), this was by far the most appalling and concerning hotel experience I have had. Safety and Maintenance: The main door lock broke, leaving my room insecure (I am a woman traveling solo). Maintenance took 45 minutes to fix it and replace the entire door system. This happened at 10pm on Dec 31st, disrupting my New Year’s Eve plans. Later, the new lock rendered my key card useless, forcing me to seek help from a security guard to access my room at 4am. Unprofessional Staff: On New Year’s Day, I was rudely awakened at 8:40 a.m. by a housekeeper, despite having planned to rest and having my check-out scheduled for 12pm. Worse, if the lock hadn’t been repaired, the housekeeper could have entered while I was sleeping. Unsanitary Conditions: My room lacked Wi-Fi, and the toiletries provided were already opened and used. The hand soap caused me to develop dermatitis. Room Service and Food: The food was inedible—fish fingers were hard and tasteless, and a hamburger arrived raw, cold, and dry after repeated delays and follow-ups. Hotel’s Response: Management ignored my complaints and, when pressed, gaslit me by calling these incidents “minor inconveniences.”The hotel refused to take responsibility. They stated that not having me pay for the inedible food.

Great Staff, but Management and Food Need Improve

This is a very good hotel with excellent and attentive staff. However, the overall management shows a lack of knowledge in basic hospitality standards. For example, there is moss in the pool, overly soft mattresses that become very uncomfortable, and staff members like the security guard and gardener are tasked with repairs. The lowest point is the food. Most dishes have an unpleasant taste of rancid oil, and the fruit is of poor quality. This is a crucial moment for the hotel to address these issues properly; otherwise, it risks falling into a downward spiral, which is hard to recover from. I emphasize once again that the staff is excellent and very attentive.

This was my family's third time staying at the hotel. We have always enjoyed our experience at the hotel which is why we returned for a third visit this past September. We were last there in April of this year and in March of 2023. Unfortunately, during this visit we encountered a security issue at the hotel, as I returned to the hotel room the morning of our last day at the hotel to obtain some items half way through breakfast and upon returning to the hotel room I entered and found a maintenance worker had broken in through the back glass doors which were open and he was searching our belongings. Someone had to have opened the lock on the doors for him as the glass was not broken. The maintenance worker was confronted and he left the room quickly. We reported the incident and it appeared that nothing was done at the hotel and no one was eager to help us, despite the fact we were there with 5 children. After the trip, I informed the owner and was advised by the owner that the maintenance worker was fired from his job and that the hotel had taken steps to deal with the issue. Because of this experience I would not return nor recommend the hotel to anyone.
