10/10 Exceptional

This is a fantastic place to stay. Extremely quiet of an evening, which gave us both a lovely nights sleep. We had a meal with family there and it was amazing.

6/10 Good

Lovely hotel with great facilities, food is amazing but the noise at night, slamming doors and general disturbance made it hard to sleep. It’s my second stay here, and unfortunately the night time noise was an issue again, which isn’t ideal when you’ve got work the next day

Excellent accommodation but the breakfast was excessively expensive.

Lovely, comfortable place to stay. Very quiet in a remote location. Friendly staff and great choice of food and drink.

10/10 Exceptional

Lovely country pub, with friendly staff. Food was very good and plentiful. We stayed in the annexe, and that worked well for us. Quiet area but handy to visit numerous places. Would definitely recommend!

Very cozy stay

Good value for the price paid with free parking. Close to the beautiful small town of Totnes. The location is a bit off in the countryside with very narrow roads to access, but you get a free parking lot by the hotel.

We were staying here while attending a two-day Event at Dartington Trust. It was 5 minutes travel on interesting Devon lanes but worth the journey. We stayed in the annex so getting in and out at anytime was easy and problem free. Stayed for dinner and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning and the food was both imaginative and delicious. Definitely recommend the Sea Trrout if you want a comfortable and perfect hideaway

6/10 Good

We wanted to enjoy my stay and felt confident we would as the reviews were extremely positive. Unfortunately we were disappointed and left a day early. The stairs, corridor and room was dark and depressing. I wish the smart repainted outside of this large building was matched with a good interior. If that doesn’t bother you at all then the staff are lovely!

Another lovely stay at the Seatrout Inn and I'm sure it won't be my last. As a single guest I was very well looked after. It was so nice that the restaurant staff remembered my preferences. You need to have the three times cooked chips, yummy! Comfortable beds, lovely location. Wifi could do with a boost as there is no/little mobile signal. TV is dated. Bathroom was fine but could do with a facelift. However, powerful shower, lots of lovely hot water. Highly recommend.

Staff + Food Excellent

This is an Inn built in the 1500's, So the uneven floors in the upstairs accommodation are to be expected. The Staff are very attentive and accommodating to one's individual needs. The food is excellent! Downside :- The bedrooms are well overdue for a decoration. Because of its age and probably graded listing, there is no double glazing. So the rooms overlooking the road, to the front of the premises, hear all vehicular traffic, much of which is agricultural tractors + trailers. A bit like the sound of tanks passing by. I like real ale, and they had three types. Not shown on the pumps is the PRICE OF £5.30 a pint. I can only believe the price is not shown, because if they did, they would sell an awful lot less of it. I did have one pint which I enjoyed.

4/10 Fair

Dreadful

Approaching the Sea Trout Inn it looked pleasant with its white washed stone walls but, drawing into the scruffy unkempt car park with broken furniture and wilderness garden, I started to worry. Inside the pub wasn't much better with a general state of grubbiness. The bar area was filthy and my pint of local bitter was £6.70!! My room resembled something from the late 60's in decor with uncomfortable twin beds and the smallest tv available. Very thin unlined curtains. The food was nice but overpriced and small portions. Breakfast was another disappointment: expensive at £12.00 without any juices, cereal, fruit etc. Surly service, a single cup of dreadful, weak 'pour and serve' coffee (one cup only) at an extra £3.25. The Sea Trout Inn is well worth avoiding!

8/10 Very good

The hotel was ideally positioned with easy access to the Torbay area although difficult without your own transport. On arrival we were asked to pay an additional £40 for the dog which I understood was in the price we paid in advance and were then charged for a cup of tea and a cup of coffee with our £12 Breakfasts when we left which was the first time I have ever come across this charge as it has always been included with a breakfast.

A lovely, homely inn set in dense countryside. Beautiful surroundings, you can hear steam trains and church bells. However you must have a car as it’s terribly remote and it’s a struggle to get a cab
Amy, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

The hotel room was nice and spacious, shower a little small. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and excellent service.

Had a lovely stay for few days and good location to explore local area, especially Steam train with Staverton station walkable distance. Food really good and we were pleased with how well they catered for gluten intolerances. Really friendly staff.
Justin, 4-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Can’t fault our stay at the sea trout, the staff were so helpful and welcoming. The room was fine, not anything special but lovely and clean. We were staying in the area for a wedding, without a car it’s quite hard to get around although the hotel were really helpful with providing local taxis. If you’re staying here, would recommend eating in the restaurant, the food was amazing! Would recommend
