10/10 Exceptional

Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, lovely breakfast.
Richard, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Stayed for 1 night as a stop over on route to Scotland. Room was a little 1 bed cottage at the rear of the actual pub. Was extremely clean, comfortable and warm. Only downside was we were expecting a cooked breakfast as stated on their website but was told it was a continental breakfast in the fridge in the room, no food available at the pub itself so ventured into the town to eat and then returned to the Shakespeare for a drink only to find it was all shut up at 8.30pm. If you are visiting Kendal there are many bars and restaurants but check out the Brewery Arts Centre which was a lovely place to eat
Mark, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Friendly staff, comfortable beds, cleanliness
Lesley, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

Definitely our worst ever stay at an hotel. The room (Hermia) was ok but the mattress was beyond a joke. It was a cheap spongy thing with springs digging in which made sleep impossible. I was awake most of the night trying to get comfortable. My partner was in agony as her hip was in pain. Also a cheap breakfast in the fridge which we left. And the curtains were thin letting in all the light.

10/10 Exceptional

Lovely place in a lovely city. Really friendly staff and the breakfast was a very nice touch! Would recommend anyone who wants a good place for the money. Also a cheap parking lot closeby (2.5 pounds between 18 and 9 which is good for people who want to go to lake district wit car)
Hans, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Friendly staff and good location

A great location and looked after well by the staff. The room was spacious and comfortable and quiet at night so got a good nights sleep, located well for Kendal town centre and to use as a base for exploring the Lake District. Breakfast was tasty and filling too. Staff very friendly and welcoming.
Gareth, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Central location

Right in the middle of Kendal. Rooms are at the rear so very little noise. Room was satisfactory, bed was big but on one side you sink into the mattress. Food in the pub was nice, plenty of it and freshly cooked. No vehicle parking is available, so you have to find a parking space in a local car park which isn't cheap overnight. WiFi wasn't quite there being patchy and kept dropping out. Suspect that it was amount of people trying to access it.
2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Surprised by how quiet this property was. Clean and comfortable. Quite a small room. Breakfast was nice.

8/10 Very good

Good central base for Kendal, our room was behind the pub off the main road on the ground floor. Car park for fee about 1 minute walk away from the property. Came with a cooked breakfast served by a lovely young lady.

Obi, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Top accommodation, top pub, breakfast was not the best but nice place overall. Would go again
Trevor, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

I arrived to find the property was having an IT issue so they couldn't check my booking on screen. That said the girl quickly gave me a key & showed me to the room, which wasn't in the main building but down the yard. The room was spacious & bright, and quiet too which is always good. The breakfast was fairly basic but pleasant enough. One problem with this venue is the lack of parking. There is parking at the Brewery Arts Centre but that's quite a walk if you have heavy bags, and you have to pay.

Nice room in centre of Kendal

Very pleasant room in the centre of Kendal. Clean with all the amenities you need in a room for an overnight stay. Freshly cooked breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Great value

Excellent stay, staff were fantastic.

We had a lovely stay here at the Shakespeare Inn. Rooms are away from the busier high streets. We had a quiet nights sleep. Staff are very friendly and accommodaating.

Excellent Stay

Stayed here for 2 nights, ideal location, carpark included and breakfast. We ate here every night too, the food was lovely, good choice to choose from. Staff all very helpful and pleasant. Room was a really good size - highly recommend.
Michelle, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Okay stay

Good size room, bedding clean and smelt nice. Room tatty and in need of upgrade. Bathroom very poor including loose toilet seat, grouting and shower in need of attention. Bathroom floor peeling up in doorway causing a trip hazard. Window stay in bathroom fell off when we opened the window. On the plus side staff were lovely. Cooked breakfast a bit over cooked but tasty and good quality. Continental breakfast poor, not much selection. Would have said all this when we handed the keys back at the end of our stay if we had the opportunity.
Karen, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Safe and friendly area, easy to find location, I like that this place in linked to local history. Room was very big enjoyed the hospitality in the bar area. Staff very friendly. I did have one issue the room I stayed in, The Lysander room was extremely cold at night and I did catch a chill which made me cut exploring time the next day. However I did notice that was just above freezing temperature outside on the night I stayed I would return to kendal but only in warmer months of the year. B and B total £71

Good location, great pub with surprisingly good food! One of the best pub we have been in our 2+ weeks in UK. No rowdy and noisy patrons, Love the 70s and 80s music.
Kim, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Reasonable overnight stay.

Reasonable hotel, clean and spacious room with comfortable beds, but nothing out of the ordinary. Interesting parking experience, but definitely doable with careful driving.

Great for motorcyclists

Traveling thru UK on motorcycle and always look g for a place with walkability and good parking for my motorcycle. This fit the bill. Ate dinner at the pub and meal was very good.

Perfect in every way. The team at The Shakespeare are the best. The archway you need to drive through to the car park is tight, but the team were fab at navigating you in. All part of the charm.
Neil, 1-night trip

Parking is inside a courtyard with a very tight entrance. Easy for smaller cars but if you’re driving a large rental be prepared.
