"Solid choice in the south Newcastle area. Rooms were older but well maintained - sort of classic Route 66 motel era, or in other words, charming. Good television channel selection, plenty of hot water, and biscuits (cookies) included with the tea and coffee items, along with a small carton of milk, which I just love. Easy parking right in front of the room. Next door to a 7-Eleven with a Subway and an Oporto, but I recommend a visit to the attached pub for a full-on Aussie experience."

"Thornton is a lovely location. We stayed in The Arnott room which I would call a suite - lounge, bedding etc. the room is equipped with a bar fridge, microwave, kettle, cups, mugs, saucers for two people. Bathroom is spacious. Free wifi was good. Would stay again. "

"Clean room, but rusty shower rail and damaged blinds in bedroom, but overall good value for the money. Good pub with excellent food. Another oub where you would get a discount for being a menber but only staying for a couple of nights its not worth the hassle. Plenty of parking at the rear. "

"Abermain was a fantastic hotel. Great location to be close to the wineries in Pokolbin and Lovedale. Room was clean and it’s situated in a hotel that is 115 years old. We were worried about the shared bathroom but it was totally fine. The bar food looked great, even though we didn’t indulge after a day at the wineries. Would definitely come back to the Abermain. "

"It's an older hotel but with modernisation, it's not creaky. A big dining room kitchen for shared use. Eat as much cereal, toast with vegemite, honey or jam, tea and coffee as you like. Their words! The rooms are cleans with a basin, a TV that works , comfy beds and an A/c that works by pushing one button."

"We had an overnight stay at Pippi’s after being at Port Macquarie for the day and geez I must say for hotel/pub accommodation this place was just great. The check in procedure was so swift with the lady assisting just superb and so friendly. She personally escorted out to the stairway and pointed us to our room which was very helpful. "The accommodation is basic but is value for money. In the room is a bed (clean), AC, fridge, fan, sink, desk and desk lamp. Great location for transport and food."

"This was my second stay. The accommodation is basic but clean. Anita remembered me from my previous stay. Anita is very welcoming and friendly. Anita everytime she sees you asks if you need anything which was lovely. Its within walking distance to Coles and eateries."
