"This hotel definitely shows it age. The common areas are generally well maintained and look dated but extravagant. The room we were in had a good view of the city and the location was perfect for what we were there for. While we paid $140+ per night, this hotel reminds me of those seedy little $30/night motels. It was listed at a much cheaper rate (deceptive advertising that is common these days).
--THE BAD--
- The floor while it looked clean, left socks and feet dirty.
- The AC unit did not work. While it blew air (even when off) it was not cold or hot, as such I would not recommend this hotel for a summer or winter stay, we were boiling with the windows open a crack (security windows on the 7th floor).
- Toilet ran and would loudly refill every couple minutes. Also did not flush properly.
- broken floor tiles in the bathroom
- Water would only get slightly warm IF you left it run for 5-10 minutes first. Hope you like cold showers.
- Easy to get lost in this massive old building with many doors and elevators leading to only a select area.
--THE GOOD--
- Location was perfect for us, right off of Michigan Ave and a few blocks from the bean as well as the location we were headed to.
- The bed, while small was firm, comfortable and felt newer? The pillows were great!
- Elevator, while older than dirt (peeling wallpaper) was fast, shook like crazy but fast.
- Other than the noise from the open windows (trains constantly going by), it was quiet at appropriate times."
"Rooms were infrequently cleaned and we had to request soap and new towels (no we didn’t have our (no housekeeping) sign up). Other than that it was a nice stay."
"On the site it's listed that cribs are available and I also included the request with booking in the accomodations section. Upon arriving at the hotel we was told not only were there not any cribs but it was treated as if it was a weird request. The host was a younger guy (I'm 31, he was about 25) and when I asked if he could if housekeeping for a crib I was again told by him that they do not have them. Luckily a bar worker heard the convo and told him that housekeeping do have cribs. He paged housekeeping and surprise! A crib for the baby. We quickly moved on from that and I was excited to continue on with my birthday trip. Well.... Entering the room it looked clean.. But that bathroom had no toiletries. No hand soap. No q-tips or shower caps. The following day the room was not tended to. All bath towels that I neatly put in a pile for housekeeping remained there. No fresh towels. No fresh linen for the bed. No new bag for ice. Still no hand soap (that I requested the night before and never received). I truly was expecting more from this hotel."
