Bali weather has 2 seasons, dry and wet, although you can expect mostly warm and humid days throughout the year. The dry season runs from May to September, offering plenty of sunny days and an average temperature of 31°C. Most consider this mid-year period as the best time to go to Bali. You can expect a good balance between the sun and surfing conditions during this time.
The wet season is from October to April, when you’ll encounter occasional downpours and more overcast skies. Bali’s most windy months are between June and August, which locals often refer to as the “kite season”. During these months you can enjoy the cheerful sight of the skies dotted with colorful traditional Balinese kites.

During this period, the air is drier and more pleasant for outdoor activities and overland sightseeing tours. The skies in Bali are also mostly clear and blue during this time, which creates the perfect conditions for capturing fantastic photographs of the landscape, as well as working on your sun tan, of course.

The low season in Bali, in terms of hotel bookings, is roughly the first and last quarters of the year. In other words, it’s from January to March and from October to November. December, however, usually sees a fair amount of vacation season bookings.
The wet Bali weather around these months also sees residents with their umbrellas and ponchos at hand. You can expect lower hotel rates around this time, together with all sorts of other benefits on offer. Another bonus of visiting during these months is that you can anticipate smaller crowds which is a pleasant aspect when you’re touring popular sites and attractions.
Bali’s national and religious holidays
Good for: Adventure, Budget, Unusual
During national holidays, the roads across Bali become quieter, a helpful feature that allows faster traveling times between your hotel to locations of interest. One such time is the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, with its main celebration on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, or “Idul Fitri”. Much of the non-Balinese populace departs from the island and heads home for this vacation.
Similarly, before “Nyepi” (Day of Silence), also known as the Saka New Year, residents return to their rural homes to visit their families. Expect the peak season in Bali around Christmas and New Year, from December 24 to January 5. Other busy periods include the dry season in general and the school vacation, between July 1 and September 30.
