This property suffers from poor management at the helm, which has clearly caused both the guest rooms and experience to go downhill.
Initially put in a room on the 5th floor, close to the pool (Yay! 75% of the reason we booked this property) Upon walking in room, it was clear the previous guest had recently been heavily smoking cigarettes in the room as it smelled like a bowling alley in the 70s. When we informed the front desk, they acted surprised - didn't apologize - but did place us in a new room. (Yay?...)
We thought perhaps we'd get a bit of an upgrade for the trouble, since it was a holiday weekend and the hotel was empty. Nope. Same room, more floors up and right near the elevator (which I asked to avoid.) With an air vent peppered with mold and/or rust spots.
We were so tired from traveling and beat down at this point, we just left out stuff and popped over to a different hotel for dinner/drinks. The pool was nice but not an amenity worth the rest of the trouble from this stay. Thank goodness I had points that covered a majority of costs, because I would have been more upset spending more.
This hotel may have been glorious in its past life, but it's no longer worth the money they are asking for the room/experience provided. Much of the FOH staff seemed undertrained/inexperienced, and just plain disinterested or high. You can find a cleaner room and better experience elsewhere, and you should.
