Great location but completely dilapidated property. Many things do not work -- such as telephone in the room or the lock box in the room. Location:: the property is only 2 blocks away from Esplanade. Right next to this hotel is where all the homeless gather. Just cross the road and everything is great. Breakfast: cornflakes, sandwich, croissant, juice The problem is: no one was eager to listen or fix the problem. Change the safety lock box - NO, change the phone -- NO. Bathroom old and water taps broken Good value. Just need to set the right expectations

The hotel is in a great location—the beachfront promenade is within walking distance, as is everything else you might need. For an additional fee, you can rent a parking space in the garage, but there are also parking spots available right outside. Often stay at Hides because it is so central. I’ve been staying there for at least 30 years. It’s a bit jaded but ok. I do object to paying about $170 a night and only have the room serviced once in 4 days. No butter at breakfast the last day. But I am fond of the old thing and will continue to patronise her!

This is a great place to stay! The staff was great. It's a great location. The whole place is very clean. The bathrooms are huge and it was very comfortable. It's very walkable and a Woolworths right across the street. Walking distance to the night market, day market and the pier for the boats to the Great Barrier Reef. The building as a whole is older and we only got 1 key. But we didn't ask for a second. The building is well kept and very clean. The room has a fridge and an electric kettle. I would highly recommend this hotel! It's a great value!
