Barceló is a huge resort made up of multiple different properties. You can wonder between the properties to get different experiences and shopping. We enjoyed our stay and the food was good, but not amazing. The staff were not very friendly nor gracious compared to our experiences at other resorts, and although it says they speak both spanish and english, we struggled communicating with staff using english. Beware- they do require pants and closed toed shoes for men at all dinner reservations, which we did not see before our arrival. Overall, we have definitely had better experiences.

Disappointing Experience – Poor Service and Strict Rules I recently stayed at the Barceló resort, and while the property itself was beautiful, the overall experience was frustrating due to the poor quality of service and unnecessary restrictions. The biggest issue was the staff’s lack of attention to detail and urgency. Requests were often ignored or took forever to be fulfilled. Simple things like getting extra towels or ordering a drink at the bar felt like a chore. The staff seemed indifferent, and at times, even rude. For a resort of this caliber, I expected much better service. Another major letdown was the food. The options were extremely limited, and the quality was underwhelming. By the second day, it felt like we were eating the same thing over and over again. For a resort that markets itself as high-end, I expected more variety and fresher ingredients. To make matters worse, they enforce a strict dress code for dinner, requiring men to wear long pants. While I understand the need for some level of formality, this policy felt outdated and unnecessary, especially in a beachside resort. Meanwhile, service at the restaurants was slow, adding to the frustration. It’s a shame because the resort itself is stunning, with great potential. However, the lack of attention to detail, poor service, and unnecessary rules made the stay more stressful than relaxing. I wouldn’t return, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a truly enjoyable vacation.

The property is beautiful, the beach is amazing and the staff was great. However, the food options were very limited compared to other all inclusives. PFor breakfast and lunch there is only a mediocre buffet and for dinner there are four ala carte restaurants where reservations are required. Also, there is only one bar option in the evenings. There are no activities at this resort but the adjoins resorts have some, though none of them are free. We paid to upgrade to the premiere club which was a total waste of money. There absolutely no advantages to this as there are at other resorts we’ve stayed at except for being able to order room service at no charge. I don’t think we will return.

I recently spent a week at this amazing hotel, and I can’t recommend it enough! The facilities are top-notch, and the service is truly exceptional—it’s hard to find anything we didn’t like. At first, we were unsure about the long walk to our room, but it ended up being something we absolutely loved—it added to the tranquil and relaxing vibe of the place. The variety of food and drinks was impressive, and everything was of excellent quality. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. If I had to point out one area that was just average, it would be the entertainment, but honestly, we didn’t mind at all. From the very beginning of our stay, we encountered multiple issues with our room. Both the sink and shower were clogged, which we immediately reported to the staff. While they addressed the clogs, the shower began emitting a foul odor that persisted for four days. Despite our efforts to endure the smell, it became unbearable, and I returned to the service desk to explain the situation. Eventually, I was referred to a supervisor. While she did switch our room, the process was a complete mess. We had to wait to check out of our old room and check into the new one. Transferring our luggage between rooms caused us to miss yet another event we had planned, adding to the growing list of frustrations. Altogether, we wasted about four days dealing with room or hotel-related issues. On top of that, the room setup was highly uncomfortable. There were three adults in our party, and we were given twin beds instead of the double beds advertised on their website. Sleeping in such cramped conditions was one of the most uncomfortable experiences of my life. Unfortunately, the new room was no better. It was filthy, with wood shavings and other debris on the floor. The beds weren’t properly made, and the pillows were smashed and flat, unlike the pillows from our first room. It felt like they had given us someone else’s dirty room. The overall atmosphere at the resort was also disappointing—most of the staff seemed to be in bad moods, starting with Ricardo at the service desk.
