Sad regular customer

My stay at Laquinta was not fully satisfactory. The only issue I experienced, was the air conditioning not fully functioning. It worked upon arrival, but in the middle of night, I woke up sweaty. The a/c was not blowing anything, all setting I selected were on. It took forever for the system to come back on. It definitely needs to be serviced.

The room was dirty at check-in, but the staff was nice and fixed it! It's in a great location, but I don't like surprises when traveling, so I might stay there again because it was close to the festival at Naval Yard, Folly Beach, and Downtown.

Not great.

The phone didn’t work, the fridge couldn’t be plugged in, the breakfast was mediocre at best. The orange juice was flavorless and the waffles were bland. They were woefully understaffed. My wife tried to charge a bottle of water to the room and the person looked totally lost. There was no maintenance staff and the person on nightduty was by herself and couldn’t even supply a plunger or help 3 girls get back in thier room. The door locks barely worked. Also, the person who was working by herself at night announced this loudly in front of many people in the lobby. This was not a smart thing to do. We did not feel secure there at all definitely not up to La Quinta standards.

Just say no.

Not a good stay. Stayed in a separte building with a broken elevator. First room had a broken door that not even the desk clerk could open. No luggage rack or fridge. No ice machine in our building. Room never cleaned although we requested it. Wait ten, yes ten, hours for clean towels.

Horrible, dirty, uncomfortable.

Horrible. Do not stay here. The elevator only went down and not up. The room was dirty. The door to the room was loose and it looked like had been broken into. Uncomfortable mattresses.

Just Okay

The hallways smelled like old dank smoke. The door stuck very badly and had to be muscled shut. The room was clean. The beds were not very comfortable. The a/c was cold. The toilet had a very rough time flushing anything, and we had to get a plunger. There were two separate incidents of seeing a roach in the bathroom. The breakfast was very basic- powdered eggs, sausage, and an assortment of bread products and waffles. There is a box on the wall with fruit, but you could miss it if you didn’t look up. Day two of our stay, they only had sausage and waffles as a hot food choice. The lady in charge said they didn’t get their grocery order for the week. Parking was actually free and not the $15 dollars that they say you have to pay. Other guest told us about the other loud guests, and one man was screaming at the front desk to get his room changed due to the noise. It is a safe place to stay. And relatively close to drive to downtown Charleston. Overall, we probably would pick another place if we ever travel back to Charleston, but it is okay for the money compared to others around the area. I’m not even that picky, but there seemed to be more negatives than positives.

Decent for the price

Room was clean and fairly comfortable. We were close to the lobby, so there was quite a bit of noise. The pool was closed for repairs. The location is convenient. Staff was not friendly, but not rude, just there.

Had to leave due to concerns

I checked in 03/16/2025 room 216 with my grandkids. We checked in and went straight to the beach for the day. We got back to the room at around 10:30. I went back down to my car to find people drinking and having a party in the parking lot around my car. I had to ask the drunk owner of the truck next to my car to move so I could get into my car. I drove around the parking lot looking for another space. Due to construction trucks with trailers and trucks with boats taking up multiple spaces and a construction dumpster I was unable to find another place to park. I informed the clerk about the drinking in the parking lot. She didn’t seem to concerned. She did ask if my car was damaged I told her I didn’t think so. She told me I could park in the restaurant parking lot. So I did. After going back to my room and growing more concerned about my car being damaged or being towed by the restaurant in the morning I decided to check out and drive back to Columbia. I checked out at 12:30am. The clerk refused to give me the managers name, she did take my name and number and asked why I wanted to speak with the manager. I informed her I would like a refund do to the situation. She informed me that being as I had been in the room to long, the best they might be able to do is a partial refund. I have called the hotel back for two days now and the manager has refused to come to the phone or return my call. I have left my name and number each time. I will update this review after I talk with
