Amazing View … Run Down!

Honestly, you can’t beat the view but the hotel is run down. We stay once a summer every year and it’s progressively gotten worse. This year we were on the third floor and had a slow drip from the unit above us. The last morning I pressed the ceiling because the trip got worse by the day and we had 2 chunks of paint fall off the ceiling. When I pushed on it, the whole wall moved and water came raining down like it’s pooling behind the wall. I don’t want to know what’s behind that wall with water and mold. They need to reinvest in this hotel and bring it back. For what they charge, it’s a shame. Their staff is wonderful, rooms and facilities are clean, but the rooms have furniture that badly needs replacing and they have some major issues that need addressed. If you find a really great deal on the room, it might be worth it, because we have stayed in rooms that need addressing but have no major issues like this one did. If it’s not a great deal, there are newer and renovated hotels steps away.

When we arrived the check in process was easy & the staff was nice. Our room initially was average, we weren’t expecting anything FANCY. The smoke detector continuously went off. The front desk was nice & got someone up there to fix it quickly ( 3 times) we finally had to change rooms , again staff was great & there was no issue. In our second bedroom the toilet was clogged and DIRTY. Overall, the stay was average & I know things happen out of people’s control, but for the cost we paid it just was not okay.

Expect extra charges

The staff was great and the room was clean and comfortable. The extra charges are ridiculous. For our stay the nightly rate was $359. Add to that $15 plus tax each day for parking in their gated lot, and a $50 per day hold on your card for “ incidentals”, was told it was in case you use anything in the room. There was nothing in the room to use, no mini bar, snacks, or bottled water. The website says “ Enjoy our pool loungers and pool towels” “Enjoy our beach loungers and beach towels” When you get there you learn the beach loungers are third party rentals for $60 per day. So, for five nights, if you choose to rent the beach equipment, plus the hotel’s extra fees, you’re out an extra $600 on top of your room charges. That’s before you eat your first meal.

Don’t do it!!!

We stayed at this hotel last year and loved it. So when I started planning our vacation this year, this was the only hotel I considered. Big mistake. I don’t know what has happened, but we did not enjoy it nearly as much as we did last year. I would think that if you pay $3000 for a five night stay, you should not have to call the front desk and beg for housekeeping. They told us when we checked in that housekeeping only cleans every other day. On our third day, my husband saw one of the housekeepers in the hall and asked if we were scheduled to be cleaned that day, and she said we were not. When we called the front desk, Patricia was so rude. But somebody did finally come and make the beds up and empty the trash. The beds were very uncomfortable, and we woke up every morning sore. When we checked in, they charged us $332 for “parking and incidentals“. The only great thing about it was the view, which was fabulous. We definitely will not be back.

Hampton Inn Going Downhill

This is the second summer we have stayed at the Hampton Inn Pensacola Beach. It seems to have gone downhill from last summer. Just did not have a clean feel to it. We vacation in Pensacola every summer. One annoying thing was that the electronic key cards did not work to unlock the rooms. Everytime we would leave the room we would have to have the key card re-activated for it to open our door. We spent a lot of time waiting in line at the front desk to get a new key card. This next summer we will probably stay at another hotel.
