I stayed for 2 nights. I could hear next door talking in the room next to me till 2 am, so the sound proof rooms are not as advertised. That added to the uncomfortable bed made for a tired next day. There was no coffee machine but you do get a kettle. Room was basic and had no features like a picture to break up the bleakness of the room. The shower was surprisingly good and the towels were clean. It’s definitely a budget room and 1 night is more than enough.

This hotel is perfect for anyone visiting The Emporium. Everything one needs and only five minutes away. The young lady on reception/bar was really friendly and chatty and was a joy to be served by .

Basic with no Thrills.

Very basic with no thrills. Perfect for travellers visiting the centre of Coalville as we were, but the room was very basic. Tea, Coffee, kettle, towels and soap were provided, but only 1 coat hanger in the wardrobe. The ensuite sink was slightly blocked and took ages to drain away, and the shower and soap shelf were dirty. We couldn't get the TV to work on the night, only in the morning did I find the switch half way up the back was turned off. The hallway carpet just needs a quick clean and maybe an air fresher in there to brighten it up. Check in was at the bar, and i couldn't hear the softly spoken barmaid over the music. It is also the first time someone has hand written my debit card details down instead of just swiping through a machine; I hope these wear destroyed. But on the whole i got a good nights sleep, there is free parking, and check out was easy; though no breakfast.

More of a hostel than hotel.

Halfway Hotel is a cheap no frills accommodation. It’s part of the Indian restaurant & bar which fronts the premises. Indian food is the only menu option & the bar closes around 10pm. Plenty of parking to the side & rear of the property. I was shown to my room by the very friendly lady who checked me in at the bar. Room was small & very basic & just big enough to cram in two single beds & a wardrobe. Has more of a hostel feel about it than hotel. The bathroom was very clean & modern & looked new, lovely warm shower & heated towel rail. There was also plenty of clean towels provided. Stayed for two nights & the room was partly made up after the first night. Upon our return we found my bed was remade & my friends had been half made & looked like someone had climbed on it for a sleep & left it. Would I stay here again? It’s a no I’m afraid.

Death trap

I am still waiting for a full refund. We booked for 2 nights but only ended up staying for 1 night. We couldn’t vacate the building as the fire escapes were locked. The exit button did not activate the door. There was no one on site to assist. After phoning, we were directed to an alternative exit marked also as ‘fire exit’. However, to exit, an electric button was also required. The push bar did not open the door. Quite a traumatic experience!

This is an unusual hotel. There are three separate cost centres. Hotel Accommodation, Bar, Breakfast/Dinner. I would have preferred all three on one bill. However, the value for money cannot be denied. I was well looked after and enjoyed the stay. Friendly staff.
