Machu Picchu for Luna del Miel

Quick stay for Machu Picchu! Check in was easy and our room was available early. They gave us the wrong room at first but quickly fixed and put us in a room with a river view. Breakfast was wonderful and location was wonderful. Staff was super nice and helpful. They held our bags in a safe room while we adventured our last day.

Excellent value for the money

Great location overlooking the river, amazing views and a clean, comfortable room. The hotel is very close to where the train drops you off. Friendliest, most helpful front desk person I have ever encountered. I asked the front desk man, Willie, for directions to the office where I could buy a bus ticket to Machu Picchu and if he could recommend a guide. Willie actually walked us to the ticket office and recommended an excellent guide. The room was a good deal for the price and the included breakfast was delicious. I will stay here next time I come to town.

Convenient stay on the way to Machu Picchu

Our stay at the hotel was decent. It is very basic with a need for some fixes and renovation, but it works fine for a short night before visiting Machu Picchu. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was very good and starts early. You can also leave your bag for the day as you visit Machu Picchu.

Clean hotel with excellent breakfast

Excellent location next to train station, nice and quiet environment during night. Very clean rooms, most cleanest hotel in our trip. Breakfast was amazing, served to the tables and view is unforgettable. Regretting that we didn't stay another night at this amazing hotel and wonderful town.

Ok for one night

Stayed here for one night when visiting Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu. The hotel is located just along the train tracks so it is very loud and noisy. Also the hotel started to play music in the basement, the area where the breakfast is served and we could hear it all the way to our room on third floor. You can hear everything, people walking outside your door. Bathroom was very small and didn’t have a lid on the garbage bin and since you are not suppose to throw paper in the toilet in Peru it felt a bit weird not having a lid. No shampoo and conditioner in the shower so the first thing we had to do was going out and look for shampoo to buy. After seven days of hiking that was nothing you really wanted. You just wanted to take a shower. When checking out we stored our bags in a storage for free which was good. We also asked to store a box of leftover food and they said it wouldn’t be a problem. When coming back to pick up our bags they didn’t know anything about the leftover box. So that food was gone. When entering the hotel it felt like walking in to someone’s living room. The people working there/owning the place we’re sleeping on the couch and behind the check in desk. A small should was laying on the couch watching YouTube. The only good thing was the view for breakfast (see picture). I wouldn’t stay here again, but for one night it was ok.

Good for short stay. Clean and nice staff.. The downside.. is the hotel is the last hotel and also in front of the railroad.. sometimes you can hear the train. We got the first room in front of the stairs so we could hear everything.. The breakfast salon had a great view but with a lot of flies.. The property is a basic room with a small bathroom. It has great views of the river and a great location. It is perfect for a night but it is not a longer term hotel for me. It is not an updated facility and very dated. It is also next to the train tracks and you will hear the trains all day and night. It didn’t prevent us from sleeping well though.

En general no es un mal hotel. Es el último de la cuadra, osea el más lejano a la plaza, lo que tiene sus pros y sus contras. Está un poco más lejos de todo pero hay menos ruido y la vista (según el cuarto que te toque) puede ser mejor. Nuestra vista era a la montaña y rio y era linda. Buena limpieza. Los colchones no son los más cómodos, pero tampoco son malos. El servicio fue de muy bueno a regular según la persona que se encontrara en recepción. Y el desayuno fue lo único muy malo de la estancia. No es un buffet como tal, hay una o dos opciones y con mal sazón. El tren se escucha muy fuerte pues hay unas vías justo afuera en donde no es tan raro que desembarquen algunos provenientes de Cusco.

I wanted to love this inn. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. the location was great. the rate was even greater. they had some of the best breakfasts we had in this trip (everything made to order. and i loved their bread which actually smelled like bread). However, our room had no A/C (none of their rooms has) and we couldn't open the window because there's no window screen. They told us not to open the window because mosquitos would come in. so for two nights, we stayed inside a room with no fresh air. I survived the first night but i started to develop cough on the second night and the next morning I got up with terrible sore throat, coughs and minor headache. (btw, the lady was nice enough to lend me an electric fan but it didnt help much because there's no fresh air). Fortunately, it was after we went to Machu Picchu but because of the sickness, when I traveled back from Aguas Calientes to Cusco, I experienced some minor altitude sickness symptoms like short of breath and headache despite the fact that I took the medicine already. Being sick, I wasn't able to enjoy Cusco and Lima as much as I expected. And it's not just me, two of my friends who stayed in another room also got sick after the second night of the stay. I am actually good with no AC but at least install window screens. this way we can have fresh air while keeping the flying insects out. i hope i have listed all the pros and cons and let people decide. but i would definitely NOT recommend it.
