Our stay at the Ramada by Wyndham Costa Mesa/Newport Beach was, unfortunately, quite lacklustre. Thankfully, we weren’t spending much time at the hotel because our experience in room 237 left a lot to be desired.
The room was located right at the top of the staircase and beside the elevator, so we constantly heard foot traffic and conversations at all hours. It was also directly above the cleaning staff’s main area, making it even noisier throughout the day. The only window in the room overlooked the elevator and stairwell, so there was no natural light or view—just a very boxed-in feeling.
The bed was just okay, though not particularly comfortable, and the pillows were not great. One plus was that the room was clean. However, the walls near the bathroom made loud banging noises throughout the day and night, which became quite frustrating. Overall, it was just a semi-decent place to sleep.
We also had a confusing check-in experience. We arrived about 30 minutes before the official check-in time of 3:00 PM and were told we couldn’t be helped until then. Yet, within that time, three other guests arrived and were all checked in before 3 with no issue. We weren’t sure why we were made to wait while others weren’t.
All in all, we wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
