Hotel Roma Review - Bologna
I recently stayed at Hotel Roma in Bologna and, to be honest, my experience was a mixed bag. When I booked our stay, I was thrilled about the location in the historic city center and the hotel's storied past. However, my excitement quickly waned as the stay unfolded.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed promptly, and the check-in process was smooth, which set a positive tone. However, I did find it surprising that no assistance was offered to help us with our luggage to our room, especially considering this is advertised as a 4-star establishment.
The room itself was spacious, complete with a desk and a cozy chair, but we had booked a queen bed and ended up with two singles. While we managed to push them together, it was not ideal. The amenities left much to be desired; there was a kettle with tea but no coffee options. A Nespresso machine would have been a simple enhancement that could easily elevate the experience.
The beds felt worn out, and having only one pillow made for an uncomfortable night’s sleep. The bathroom was adequate, though the shower was quite cramped. After our first day out, we returned to find our room had not been cleaned. It was only on the second day that it was attended to, but to our disappointment, none of the toiletries were replenished. The size of the shampoo and body wash was notably small—about a third of the usual mini hotel products—and the soap was a tiny puck that barely lathered.
