room was very nice.
lots of little things that used to be in an average room.
shampoo, soap, single serve coffee and maker, plenty of towels, kleenex..
the one star comes from the staff running the place.
they take a credit card on file and put a deposit hold equal to the price of the room for “incidentals”.
a very common practice for any hotel/motel.
they took the deposit and then reimbursed it when i checked out.
then they charged $50 an hour later. no explanation, no notice, just a random $50 charge after returning the deposit and our business was done.
a very obvious scam to rob me of $50. like anyone else, i was checking to make sure they gave me the deposit back. i almost missed the extra charge but i just happened to look regarding something different and saw the $50 charge. they do that in hopes that once you see your deposit returned, you won’t check again until you get your statement at the end of the month or even not at all if you don’t keep track. so by the time you notice, if you notice at all, you can’t really dispute it because you waited so long.
i called them immediately and they said they have to wait for the person who made the charge to have an explanation for the charge, and that person won’t be back until the next day.
uh huh. right.
so i disputed the charge with my bank as fraud.
it’s a slimy way for dishonest people to squeeze a bit more from you.
and these people are the ones that do that.
