Amazing family vacation!

We had an amazing stay at the Copamarina Beach resort! We stayed at the Hyatt Regency near San Juan for the first several nights of our trip and then traveled across the island for a quick visit (and snorkel) in Rincon and then down to Guanica to the Copamarina. This resort has a different "vibe" (as my teenagers put it) than the Hyatt - more relaxing, quiet, much more focus on the beach and accessing the ocean, although the kids also loved the pools. We loved renting the paddleboards to use on the beautiful calm bay and we even rented a little sailing catamaran (Hobie Cat) which my teenage son (who is a sailor) took us all out in - it was magical! The team at the resort had to do some work to rig the HobieCat for us since they don't get much use, and we really appreciated their efforts to make the experience possible for us. We enjoyed the foot at the Las Palmas outdoor restaurant on the property which was easy to use and had great food and service (the breakfast buffet was a bit light on options, but otherwise great!). The area near the resort was beautiful and calm, not crazy and touristy like the San Juan area. We took an outing into Parguera to do the evening boat tour of the nearby bioluminescent bay (highly recommend this, we used Parguera Water Sports and Adventure tour company) from Copamarina and that worked great! Would HIGHLY recommend this resort for a family vacation that is outside of the usual chains and outside of the crazy tourist areas.

What are you looking for?

Beach not good. All inclusive package only offered 3 meals a day and drinks but limited. Also no snacks offered in between in the all inclusive package and it was 116$ per person per day. Drinks expensive 12-15$ per drink and with the heat they get warm fast. Gilligans island was disappointing. Pay for one hour or longer but drive to and back counts in that hour so subtract 20 minutes. However, the grounds, the rooms, the staff were ALL incredible. The pools were excellent. If you want laid back and relax it’s great. If you’re looking for adventure and a great beach it is not. The ocean is warm but just not a great beach to get in to the water. There are no places to shop for souvenirs in town. Closest place is Yaucko which isn’t far and a very quaint town. There is local store to buy stuff and fridge in room. Overall the place was really really great. Just depends on what you’re looking for. Cynthia and Edwin were exceptional.

We enjoyed our vacation. All the staffs are very friendly and kind. Food is also good! (Try the food) we did out for the gilangan island snorkel and really enjoyed it. We saw fishes under mangrove trees.

Excelente estadía.

The stay was fantastic for the whole family. There were five adults and four children, and for them it was an experience they will never forget. We went to Guilin Island and it was a great experience. The breakfasts were exquisite and the dinners were delicious. All the hotel staff were very attentive and respectful. We recommend it 100%. Thank you very much.

My wife and I loved this place

My wife and I loved this place - secluded, beautiful grounds, with a beach and multiple pools and hot tubs, comfy room with no detail overlooked (except shower could use a grab bar), very good restaurant, friendly staff. We were able to really relax here, and it was the perfect last few days for our vacation in Puerto Rico.

Nice, calm property but staff & beach needs work

Pretty, lush property but the beach was unfortunately dirty / not swimmable. Also; - Ocean front room but no shower glass / still shower curtains from 90s. Of course the floor got wet, girlfriend slipped and thankfully she has strong hand grip! - 80% of the staff we interacted with awkwardly ignored us. Not sure if this is lack of training but us having to try to get staff's attention, from the bartenders to towel office person and them not responding to all our "Hola!", "Buenas dias!", etc. was very strange. On one instance my girlfriend and I sat at the bar for easily 10 minutes while there were 3 staff members who clearly saw us but never even acknowledged us with a quick "Hola, we'll be right with you" or something in that line. Instead of grabbing a pre-dinner cocktail, we just walked straight to our dinner. Pool/beach towel situation is probably the least efficient one I've ever seen. No towels until 9am when the "towel office" opens. And you have to walk all the way there and back your wet towel after. Maybe instead of staff scrolling on their IG and ignoring you, they could have 2-3 towel bins around the pool, beach and have the staff come around twice with a cart and collect used towels? (Hotels.com issue) Booked for 2 adults but no clear way to add the second person's information so they can check-in in case I was running late so I called the property and also replied on the confirmation email requesting this. Neither worked and she got stuck waiting for hours

Pleasant but uninspiring

The staff were pleasant but some were clearly inexperienced. Rooms have no soundproofing and you can hear the person in the adjoining room talking on the phone and disturbing you when you want to sleep. ACs are noisy and the only good part was that it was so loud that it drowned out the sound of people in the adjoining room. The breakfast was not very good and way overpriced for what you got. Dinner was better and bar scene was nice watching football playoffs. Overall it is 2-3 star establishment that is apparently 50+ years old and has been spruced up a bit but there is no soundproofing and other normal upgrades that should be present

Posted on property but not disclosed ahead of time: $100 daily fine for possessing a cooler on the premises. WHAT???? Also, they give you a reservation for their less-expensive restaurant through Resy but when you show up they say, "sorry, that restaurant is closed for the season but we have an opening at our fancy restaurant". The hostess told me it happens all the time.

Facilidad excelente hermoso y tranquilo. Restaurant se tardan mucho. La comida no tuvo buena presentación los tostones extra quemados y el otro día que se pidió una pizza no tenían los ingredientes para realizar y lo avisaron luego de media hora esperando. Se tuvo que esperar una hora adicional para que realizaran otros platos.

Unfortunately, we did not have a good stay. From the start things were rocky, we never received a call when our room was ready and had to check back twice; dining was extremely slow - it took and our and a half to make a fish in the oven and then they must have left it on the counter bc it came out cold, plating was also not appealing; when we finally got a room there was a puddle on the floor from the air conditioning, someone came said it was fixed, woke up at 1am with a broken ac, front desk had to work with the restauran manager (couldn’t get a hold of other managers) to find another unit in working condition and change our ac, then finally went to sleep and ac started making a loud noise at 6:30am; when we told the morning manager we wanted to end our reservation early her response was we had to leave by 1pm in order to get a refund fir the night i would cancel (which takes 3-5 days). All of this was bc we asked to leave at no point did they offer anything for the inconvenience. Spa was fine.
