Jasper is a breath of fresh air! An absolutely lovely place to visit. I highly recommend hiking the entirety of Maligne Canyon and Mount Edith Cavill! I would recommend skipping Miette Hot Springs, unless you enjoy swimming in a public pool.

Jasper in the winter was a beautiful place to visit. Friendly locals, excellent selection of places to eat and drink and incredible walks. Winter was quiet enough to enjoy the surrounds without the hustle and bussle of the high season.

Even thought the fire has decimated parts of the areas around Jasper other vista are more beautiful because the trees are gone. Also the Jasper community is resilient and wants to see visitors return.

We left the morning before the evacuation in July 2024. Tourist areas appear to be less damaged than residual area. It will take a long while to rebuild, but was a great little town and will be again.

Jasper is a lovely area. The only nudge is parking - I found the parking app to be very frustrating - it wouldn't take the Alberta registered rental car plate and I couldn't pay. So I had to either park far away from town or risk a ticket.
"Nice large room. Beautiful lounge area, nice restaurant. Staff was very helpful.
Limited parking but it was high season. Lots of tourists in the area."
"Our stay was over Canada Day. The Fairmont had special events & other touches to add to the celebration. So it was difficult to get reservations at the Fairmont’s smaller restaurants. The grounds are green & beautiful, however, there are fringes of forest that were destroyed by the 2024 forest. "
