Fantastic location at the end of Ocean Drive. We stayed in Room 401 which had a huge terrace overlooking the beach. The room however is only accessible via a flight of stairs. It was unfortunate that upon arrival at The Penguin we were informed that there was no bar or restaurant and that we would have to walk to a sister property for breakfast.

If you read one review about the Penguin, let it be this one. This trashy motel ruined our anniversary trip. It looks absolutely nothing like the pictures, the pool is at a whole different building, the “complimentary” drinks are watered down and you pay for them with the $65 fee they charge you per night which isn’t disclosed when you book. But the real big problem I have with this hotel is the valet, they are scammers. Valet guy charged us $60 a night, hotel behind us is $20 a night and they all go to the same parking deck. How I know this you might ask? Because he also messed our 2021 Ford Bronco all the way up. Killed the engine so we were stranded, had to get it towed and taken to a dealership while we’re taking a rental car 10 hours back to NC. The water went cold on us multiple times. Also, it’s a pretty old and stinky place. You will notice they trick you by advertising the beach being so close by but don’t be fooled, you can get something way nicer & cheaper on Ocean blvd. I am so mad I picked this place, they really tricked me. Don’t let them trick you.

Hotel cobra como resort, do café da manhã tem fila e parece que estamos num presídio sendo servidos. Ar condicionado extremamente barulhento impossíveis de deixar ligado, cobra como resort mas só fazem limpeza nos quartos de 3 em 3 dias nem toalhas trocaram. Café da manhã é servido em outro hotel. Não possui garagem a garagem mais próxima custa 20 dólares e está A 500 m. Paredes do quarto sujas e manchadas.

Mike and the front desk staff were awesome. Very helpful, thorough and accommodating. It was my first time traveling with my 10 month old, so I had requested a side crib through the booking. When I checked in, Mike acknowledged it was already set up in the room without having to reconfirm myself. Suggesting to stay hydrated with their water bottle service. Everyone was very professional and likeable :)

The hotel is well-maintained, the room was clean and comfortable. It is very close to the beach with easy access to restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. Even being on a busy area, we didn’t hear noises from the street, as our room was facing the side of the hotel. The AC, however, was noisy and made it difficult to sleep at night. The parking on the nearby area is also a challenge and the valet parking service provided by the hotel is very expensive. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay.

Great location. Well, taken care of.

I very much like this hotel. The location was perfect. I like to be in the middle of things. It was also quiet but plenty of action just outside the door. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in the art deco district. I would definitely stay here again.

Great little hotel in great location

The Penguin was exactly what we needed. Whatever amenities were not available there (e.g., pool, bar, breakfast) were in the adjoining partner hotel(s). They were generous with beach towels and extremely friendly overall. We also got lucky with a beautiful sunlight corner room with a great view of the ocean--felt like a boat. The one suggestion I would make for next time would be to offer coffee in the rooms (or in early morning in the lobby). We are early risers + wanted to get out and walk around sunrise and (since coffee wasn't available anywhere until 7:30 or 8) wound up going to Walgreens the night before to get some iced coffee for the morning. Would also be nice for folks who have to leave for early flights. That said, though, the breakfast was hot and way better than it had to be--and again, everyone was lovely, as was the location. Would for sure go back.

Take a pass. Location is good - but..........

Don't bother with the breakfast --better off going to Denny's around the corner which is fresh as opposed to nasty staff at the property next door or a 'served' buffet of wet eggs, soggy toast, uncooked potatoes. You can't brag about two bottles of water a day when you have to ask for them because your room gets "freshened up" 2 times in 6 days.
