If You're looking for a hotel that exemplifies the word Chateau, look no further. This hotel has it all when it comes to ambiance. Nestled between Parliament Hill and the Byward market, the location can't be any better.
A couple of things to be aware of:
Parking at this hotel is quite challenging. The entry point is tight, confusing and the only option is $60 a night Valet parking, which is offered as you are unloading your car. I feel for the bellhops at this entrance. They earn their tips, coordinating parking and guest luggage management. Self park would be at a neighboring parking lot. This may not be the case all year long but it is at this time.
Check out Saturday day morning at 11:00 a.m. took nearly 20 minutes waiting in line. There were only two desk staff and many people entering and leaving at this time. Again, this may not be the norm, but during busy times there should be a quicker way to check out.
Did these two issues spoil our overnight stay? Absolutely not, but they should be addressed when they occur by a "Fairmont Chateau" level hotel.
