Terrible experience. I had always wanted to stay at this hotel but my dream was shattered. On the way to the hotel my daughter and I were hit by a lorry on the aitostrada. Very badly shaken up we made it to the hotel at 10pm. We were told the restaurant closed at 9.30pm and no room service available. They wouldnt even give me some tea bags to make a cup of tea saying they were all locked away!! We telephoned the hotel after the accident to say we would be later than expected and the reason why yet no thought was given to our situation. Throughout the stay the staff were miserable and very unapproachable. Everything seemed to be such an effort. No eye contact or pleasantries exchanged. The restaurant was only serving people on half board and the only choice we had was a burger in the Piano Bar which was a cold and uninviting place. I would however like to state that one young girl serving at the bar was absolutely lovely, a breath of fresh air. On our last night there was a small event held which subsequently took priority. The piano bar was closed off to residents and our only offering of food, a burger, was withdrawn, not that I would have wanted this. On passing reception we did hear others asking what they were supposed to eat! All in all this has to be one of the most miserable experiences. The building itself is steeped in history and stands majestically on the lake but the standards of years gone by do not exist any more.

Das Grand Hotel stammt noch aus einer anderen Zeit. Riesig, lange Flure, direkt am See liegend. Das Ambiente von früher ist spürbar. Das Hotel ist ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen. Und ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass es ohne Investor nicht langfristig zu unterhalten plus finanzierbar ist. Für Alle, die dieses spezielle Ambiente des 20 Jahrhunderts noch erleben wollen, ist es ein absoluter Tipp. Da kann man dann damit leben, dass es nur einen Lift gibt und man sich in den langen Fluren fast verlieren kann. Am besten mit Frühstück direkt am See. Kurz: Unbedingt geniessen, solange man das noch kann!

Superb location next to the lake with superb external facilities and setting. Convenient for local amenities including the charming centre of Gardone. Service was excellent. The building internally is looking a little tired but retains it's stately charm.

Lovely but not worth the price

Hotel is grand, shower over bath did not move so water flooded everywhere. We were told to just hold it? Views are beautiful. No facilities for tea or coffee and no glasses to use for mini bar was told to use paper cups that were in the bathroom.

Lage mit Blick auf den See großartig. Sehr reichhaltiges Buffet. Sehr freundliches Personal und sehr hilfsbereit. Wir werden das Hotel gerne wieder buchen. Das Oberdorf von Gardone mit seinen althistorischen Gebäuden und den zahlreichen Restaurants gehobenerer italienischer Küche ist den Aufstieg von 20 Minuten zu Fuß stets wert. Alles in allem, eine wunderschöner Urlaub mit direktem Seezugang.

Go - whilst you still can.

Absolutely amazing hotel, full of Italian charm. The room looked directly out onto the lake and had everything you would need. Spectacular view. We decided to have dinner there and that was a brilliant experience, service was exceptional, wine was great and the food.......... We had a table literally right next to the Lake. We went as we'd seen this hotel last year and a business colleague stayed there late June and found out they are closing for a full refurb in October which will take at least 2 to 3 years, so we took the opportunity before it shut. Hopefully, they'll keep the character and charm that is evident throughout.
