The $65 a day add on fee was ridiculous but after speaking to manager it was refunded . Beach had a lot of grass but I think k it’s just grass season . Food was very good but pricy . Room was nice until u had to look behind the bed for a lost earring then it was not so nice . For the cost I would not stay here again

This was my second time staying at Southernmost. It really is a lovely property, with a fun vibe and extraordinary location. That said....when we checked in, as an Expedia VIP and Platinum member, I was told I was eligible for a room upgrade, but not until the 2nd night of my 4 night stay. When we confirmed we wanted to take the upgrade (later that night), they said I misheard the front desk staff, and it would cost nearly $400 more. If that's the case, it would seem anyone could "take the upgrade". How is that cost a benefit? Another annoyance was the condition of the shower. After taking one shower, the pan was filled with water b/c the drain was clogged. It is gross to stand in water that is backed up b/c the drain is clogged with other people's hair and debris. They fixed it promptly but they left the bathroom dirty with footprints and did not bring fresh towels to replace those that were soaked and muddied. Lack of caring or attention to detail. Otherwise, I do love it here, and despite these 2 incindents of poor service, will probably come back.

I don't know if my expectations were too high but I had always wanted to stay at this resort. I've been to Key West numerous times and have always wanted to stay here. My husband and i stayed for 4 nights late April and it really did not meet expectations. First off, we did not book the most basic room, we booked a King Balcony room and there were at least 5 other rooms less expensive. I put in the notes that we were celebrating our Babymoon and there was no mention or even congratulations or consideration which i thought was odd for a resort of this caliber. We also got a balcony room in the worst possibly building on the property, overlooking a parking lot and loud street. You would think for almost $3K for 4 nights you would get something a little nicer. Also, the room needed help. The bathroom was dirty and the draws in the sink vanity were visibly broken. The light in the fan would randomly turn on in the middle of the night and wake me and my husband up too. Also, I tried calling the front desk for more pillows and the phones don't work so i had to go there and ask (apparently they have been having ongoing issues). Also be prepared to have to wake up at the crack of sawn to get a chair near the shores pool (closest to the beach) as by 8am there books and towels reserving every single one. Unfortunately, we never got the opportunity to sit by the pool. It's a beautiful location with lots of amenities, i just expected more for the price.

Room was nice and clean. Nice view and close to the beach. Staff was attentive and friendly. Bed was fine as well as the pillows. Beach was clean but sargassum was starting to come in once we left. The resort is within walking distance to lots of restaurants. If you want a quiet spot to sun, there is an area at the end of the 8000 building. Some cabanas that you have to rent and some beach chairs. Be aware if you are on the first floor that the roosters will be crowing just outside your door. The only complaint we had was the fans had remotes that were synced to other rooms. So your fan speed would change or the light would come on without warning. They tried to fix it in one room but it didn't work. They changed us to another room but it still happened.

The resort overall was amazing! Close proximity to the beach and Duval Street was so accessible. It would have been nice if the pool bars were open later in the evening. Our room was basic but clean. A full length mirror would have been great as well as a longer vanity in the bathroom. Not enough space for two people.

When we checked in at 12:30 we were told there was a room ready for us but we would have to pay $50 extra if we wanted it right away. If not we would be put on a wait list and get it sometime after 1:00. I found that this strange. Our friends checked in at the same time as us and were able to get their room right away with no mention of an extra $50. Clearly we weren't ready to pay the $50 for perhaps a half hour. Also our room was much smaller than the one shown in the photo on the website. That being said we were pleased with the hotel's location, cleanliness, etc.

Wish one of the three pools was a little warmer. March ocean water was just as warm. No hot tubs either.

Room was clean and spacious for one person. Check in staff was wonderful cleaning staff pushy stayed in my room while i was getting ready to leave for the day. Bar on the property never looked opened but overall a nice stay.

A wonderful hotel with one flaw. The beachfront restaurant is excellent. Nice to have direct access to the beach small though it is. Plenty of lounge chairs. Great location and the pools were all nice though I used only the pool bar once. Several great extras with my hotels.com status. Two free drinks, bottle of wine, and $30 off meal or drinks. Staff were uniformly responsive and pleasant. The only downfall was the room. Quite average and below average for the price. Tough to sleep with wall based ac unit blowing directly at the bed along with neighbors chatting in the hall in the middle of the night. No decor to speak of. No light switch at the door. On a positive note, the shower was excellent.

Poor reviews are primarily for interactions with management. First night I arrived the AC in my room was not working. After I already unpacked in the room and checked in, Management said they would not be able to fix it until the next day but offered me a different room in a completely “guesthouse” that was 15 mins walk away, but only for the first night until they could fix it. Obviously this was too inconvienet, so I suffered through the night with just a fan. Management reached out and apologized and said they would comp my first night, but that I had to reach out to hotels.com and let them know they had to reach out to Southernmost to initiate the refund. I did that, but waited two days and still didn’t hear anything from southernmost (and still haven’t to this day) about my refund. The $500/nt price for this price is just wild. The hotel and ammenities are pretty underwhelming, but at minimum I’d expect great service from management when issues like this happen. Unfortunately that was not my experience.
