We booked the lagoon facing room and glad we did. Spectacular view, as advertised on the images. You can even hear the birds from bird island in the morning. Gorgeous sunrise. You can rent kayaks or paddle boards and we regret not hiring them to go see the sunrise in the middle of the lagoon. The hammock on the balcony was a great option. Very relaxing, and we were taking turns on lying on it, but there could have been a more comfortable seat in the room, as one of us had to sit on a beautiful but small and uncomfortable chair. or the bed. The overhead fan was loud. Massive TV. The shower pressure was strong, which we absolutely loved. The staff was lovely. We will definitely book this place again on our next visit.

great stay. 1 mile from center, but easy to get around. Great grounds to relax, rooms with view amazing. Would def stay again and staff very friendly. For non english speakers learn some spanish it will go along way. Also use of common kitchen very helpful. Basic breakfast was great.

The staff was great at receiving us at the time requested. The view to the lagoon was amazing. They have options to rent a kayak and go out to the lagoon. (We suggest an early morning kayak outing to see the sunrise and be back to the hotel before 9am, that’s when the winds tend to pick up). The bartender at the bar on the property was friendly and the views from the seating areas and hammocks were amazing!

The room had everything one needs on holiday really. I mean no hot water but we hadn’t had hot water anywhere. The view was gorgeous and ceiling fan/AC options were much appreciated. We really enjoyed our time in Bacalar! The staff would really enjoy their jobs more if they engaged with the visitors.

Beautiful hotel right on Bacalar's lagoon. Be aware the "sandia" room with the two separate beds does not have lagoon views or a balcony. We switched to "papaya" room, a lower level with one queen bed, and that was great. Hammock in front, views to the lagoon. Helpful staff. Clean bedding and room. Simple breakfast included. Great little area down by the lagoon for hanging out, plus the dock and covered pavilion at the end, and a bar area. Really laid back and great value for the price.

Quiet stay

I’m not sure how many rooms there are at this property, but it seems a very boutique hotel. There were four rooms in my building. They gave me the Papaya room. If you’re looking for quiet, this is your place I love that this hotel offered kayak as well as paddle boards, they had a pontoon and a sailboat. There is a bar on property. Tons of seating area throughout and hammocks. My room had a hammock in front of a glass lighting door. *** the sliding door lock for the room it’s a bit to wrestle with, but I felt very safe. The rooms are very simplistic yet clean. I love that the property is right on the water. *** There is free parking. There’s also a very steep ramp that goes into a small parking area. But I prefer parking on the street. There’s a great restaurant four minutes drive time on the same street. Chiltepan Maricos has outdoor terrace sitting. You can get a partial view of the lagoon.
