I feel bad for writing this because the staff that we interacted with were nice and friendly. Unfortunately, the place was not as we expected. First of all, the only entrance is through the beach. You have to walk in sand for a little to get inside. No big deal. The room looked different from the pictures. The walls and the floor looked dirty. There was a heavily stained and disgusting plastic table in our kitchenette. No kitchen sink or counters. The fridge wasn't even plugged in when we arrived. The areas in the bathroom were separated with these cement half walls that really didn't feel clean. There was no soap dish, so we used the ashtray instead. No shampoo either. Overall, the property seems old and not clean. Not for the faint of the heart. The location is pretty good, but I wouldn't go back.

Right on the beach but next to a loud bar that plays music until late. Staff have some weird expectations in terms of having guests join you on the beach. Not sure I would stay again

Veldig koselig hotell, sentralt og med flott beliggenhet på stranda i Playa Del Carmen. Hovedgata var bare et kvartal unna, men rommet var stille, vi sov veldig godt om natta. Hyggelig betjening, vi kommer gjerne tilbake :)

The hotel was almost impossible to find, they don't have any parking available, the room was moldy, smelly and old. The kitchen fridge was broken and old, the shower had hairs, mold and rusted items. The towels and rugs had holes and were smelly. The staff did not even asked why we were not staying any longer as planned. The hotel does not want to refund any amount paid. This is definitely a scam!! I will never use Expedia to reserve anything anymore since as a Travel Agency they should take some responsibility for allowing this to happen. So very disapointed!!

IF YOU WANT TO RUIN YOUR VACATION, come to this place.sheets? Dirty! Towels? Dirty! Beach? Not privet and smells like rotten fish! Security? As low as possible! Not like the pictures at all! There was no shampoo,soap,tissue or toilet paper. I had to ask and they only give me a little soap. I honestly don’t know who gave this place a good score. If I could run from this place I would!

The owners or operators are nice but it’s just not worth the price - rooms just feel old and neglected and unclean especially the bathrooms. Can’t flush toilet paper, broken shower, luke warm water, poorly maintained, don’t feel very clean. Property just needs some TLC. Right on the beach. Very good location. Good cocktail bar and snack bar on the premises. The room was very run down. screen door to balcony broken. The view from the balcony was a very disgusting junk-filled lot next door. Wasn't worth the price.

It’s a very simple room. Bed is fine. The clean lady does a good job but definitely is a room just to go back and sleep. They are front beach, and as someone had prevIously mentioned, you will need to do few steps on the sand to get into the property. (Make sure to come from Calle 4 NTE). Which can be a bit annoying when you are using sandals and not going to the beach… like just going for a dinner. The location is great, but I’d choose next time the properties around… I thought I’d have advantage for staying front beach, but they don’t offer any lounge chairs (as you might see in the pictures), and there’s a big massage tent in the front of the hotel… so you don’t have any space for lay down.

The hotel is situated in a convenient location, beach front and a block to 5th avenue and a few blocks to ADO bus and the ferry. Lots of lounge chairs in front of the hotel for sun bathing. Staffs are very friendly. However it's lacking some basic amenities. The listing shows the standard room includes a kitchenette but the actual room only includes a mini fridge and just a empty space where the kitchenette should be in. There was no shampoo or condition so we have to purchase our own, it only comes with 2 bar soap. The hot water didn't work for a couple days, they did fix it in a timely manner. But the wifi haven't been working in our room, I've heard that it's been like that for over a month and is still an issue. This will be an issue if you don't have cell service in mexico. The air conditioning also started to not blowing cold air for us for the last 2 days and we have to open the balcony door and window for fresh air. Overall, this hotel needs some TLC. It's got a lot of potential as the view is amazing even from our balcony.

Il y a eu un bris de l'eau chaude et je n'ai pas eu d'eau chaude pendant 3 jours sur 7 nuits! Et il y a une nuit que je n'ai pas pu dormir à cause des bruits dans la tuyauterie qui faisaient un son d'enfer. L'hôtel nécessite un entretien général de la bâtisse. Mais j'y retournerai c'est certain à cause de l'endroit et de ma chambre face à la mer. Aussi bruyant surtout les vendredis et samedis à cause du bar à côté XX Dos Equis

Die Betreiber des kleinen und wirklich gut gelegenen Hotels waren sehr freundlich sowie das gesamte Personal. Nur 50 Meter um die Ecke befindet sich die Einksufsstrasse, Restaurants. 2 Blocks weiter ist es deutlich ruhiger und dort gibt es auch noch gute Lokale und Geschäfte. Der Strand ist sehr schön und sauber. Es gibt immer Liegen und Handtücher für die Gäste in dem Hotel. Eine Verlängerung kann man buchen, aber hier sollte man den Preis vorher besprechen und bestätigen lassen, da die Inhaberin sehr geschäftstüchtig ist. Es waren keine Ameisen oder andere Krabbeltiere vorhanden. Wer es kleiner und familiärer mag, sollte hier einchecken. Tagsüber ist es lauter und quirliger, da auch ein Beachclub ganz in der Nähe ist.Für alle RAUCHER ist dieses Hotel sehr entspannt, du kannst auf dem Balkon oder auf der Sonnenliege ohne ermahnt zu werden rauchen und den geniessenAusblick auf das caribische Meer geniessen.Wir, 2 Frauen, haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt.

To start, this hotel is located at the end of Calle 4 not 14th. Access is off tbe beach. Good location with great ocean views. Hotel itself is a bit run down - half the lights didn't work and light switches were grimy. Otherwise, it was mostly clean and comfortable. Staff is great. Food was okay. Drinks were delicious. Beach massage is totally worth it. Note, there is a club beside it so you can hear the bass until 3 am. I was happy with my stay, but wanted to give an honest review. I would stay again but not if i was looking for quiet.

I really enjoyed the view. I had the balcony ocean view room. The balcony was 30 feet away from the beach. It was a spectacular view. The beach was well maintained with soft white sand. Very enjoyable. It was worth every penny based on that alone. There are some reviews that mention deficiencies. They are mostly right. There is a night club next door and the music can be quite loud. The facility is older and a bit run down. The room was not especially clean. None of these issues bothered me and I really enjoyed my stay. Would absolutely stay in this this room again. Keep in mind this is not a luxury hotel so the view and the beach is the highlight. It's also in the heart of downtown Playa Del Carmen and surrounded by shops and restaurants. Good location for anyone interested in the night life.

Stayed at Mimi del Mar for my Birthday in August 2024. We have been coming to Mimi for around 10 years, and return mostly because of the outstanding staff. When we arrived we found the owners daughter and her husband running the office and the familiar office staff gone. The menu increased significantly and business on the beach is much slower. The surrounding places seemed much busier. The familiar staff that are still there are struggling because they rely on tips and no business, equals no tips. Moral is low amongst the staff and a disagreement between new management and the head of housekeeping, who has been there around 30 years, resulted in her being sent home and our room not being cleaned. Hopefully the Owners will make a change before the staff is forced to leave from lack of income. Very sad to see this small gem on the beach changed like this.
