Ended up staying here overnight after my flight out of Charlotte got canceled. Being on a student budget, I decided to pick the cheapest option in the area. I have since learned my lesson.
The motel is filthy. I have no problem with run-down-but-clean, but this was something else. To set the standard: There was no soap in the bathroom. Among other things, there was trash on the front lawn, the carpets were stained and had crumbs from a previous customer, the bathroom walls and shower had mold, and the tables were sticky. The sheets and towels were not actively dirty, but had a yellowish cast, were scratchy, and had clearly been washed many, many, many times before.
With a bit more maintenance the place could be okay. The bed wasn’t lumpy, the TV and WiFi were fine, and it was quiet (although maybe that’s because there were only a few other people staying there). The staff at reception were fine, but it was very hard to hear them through the plexiglass night window barrier they used at all times of day.
Go elsewhere for your overnight stay needs, even if the airline won’t spring for accommodation.
