Location, Location, Location

This establishment is within walking distance of many historic sites in the old town. The staff at Morris House was very friendly and informative. They gave us a map of the historic district and surrounding area and told us which sites were the best. The property was built in 1787, and though it has been well cared for, it is very old! If you want sparkling and new, this is not your place. However, if you want a unique place to stay with comfy beds, this is a good place! The rooms are decorated to period, but have modern conveniences such as a clean tiled bathroom with lots of hot water for showers. Though some reviews talk of a restaurant and bar on site, there is not currently a restaurant or bar on the property. The breakfast was served in an intimate room with a fireplace, and included hard boiled eggs, English muffins with toaster, coffee cake, muffins, cereal and yogurt. There also was OJ, milk, drip coffee and Keurig coffee maker. Though we were disappointed that there was no restaurant, there are several within a short walking distance. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

All in all our stay was good. It was my first time in Philadelphia. I chose this hotel because I liked that it was a small boutique hotel with history. It felt like a bed and breakfast. It's within walking distance to Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Visitor Center, Tour bus and restaurants. We arrived around 9pm and Linda was very nice. She showed us around and gave us a history lesson on the hotel. Get there before 11pm. They lock the gates and you need a key to get in the side door on 8th St. We stayed in room 203. It's right above the lobby and dining room. I was concerned about the possible noise of the front door, but we didn't hear anything. The hotel is quiet. Take into account that we were gone early in the morning and got back in the evening every day. We did hear the subway a little bit from our room, but it wasn't bad at all. The room was very spacious having 2 rooms with a door you can close in-between. The mattress definitely needs to be replaced. Before going, I saw reviews about the hot water. You do have to run it longer to get hot water. It's really hot when other rooms are taking showers already. The water pressure wasn't the best, but it got the job done. My girlfriend recommended more lighting in the room for doing her makeup. Parking is in a "tight" garage across the street. The hotel discounts it a little bit. Just bring the parking ticket to them. They have a continental breakfast every morning. All the staff was very nice. I would stay again.

This is a beautiful hotel, located in the historic district of Philadelphia. The concierge Jerry is a treasure. He gave a tour of the hotel and hotel room. The room was spacious and filled with state of the art amenities. Will definitely stay here again soon!

A Treasure!

I cannot say enough good things about my stay. The room was clean, beautiful, and comfortable. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of all the historic sites. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They offered ideas on places to eat and visit during the stay and made sure all our requests were met in a timely fashion. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to be back soon
