Great Service and Family Amenities, But Beach and Room Conditions Need Improvement
We stayed at Hotel Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort All Inclusive in Cancún, Mexico from June 7 to June 12, 2025, for a multigenerational family trip. Our group included six people (two adults and four kids), my mother, and my in-laws. The resort offered a lot for families, and overall, we had an enjoyable stay.
The staff was excellent—friendly, helpful, and accommodating from check-in to check-out. The resort grounds were clean and well-kept, and the pool area, especially with the water slide, was a hit with our kids. The restaurants provided a good variety of food options, and the service in the dining areas was consistently attentive and courteous.
However, there were a couple of notable downsides during our stay. First, the rooms had a persistent moldy smell, which was unpleasant and difficult to ignore. While the rooms were cleaned daily and generally well-maintained, the odor suggested a deeper humidity or ventilation issue that needs attention.
Second, the beach area was heavily affected by seaweed throughout our stay. The shoreline and water were covered with seaweed, which gave off a strong foul odor and made it nearly impossible to enjoy the beach. While we understand this is a regional issue and not entirely the resort's fault, it significantly impacted our beach experience. The staff did try to clean it, but it was an ongoing challenge.
