Pleasant stay at Dawson House Lodge

Stayed in Dawson House Lodge on our way to Portland from Crater Lake. Close to the north entrance of Crater Lake. A historical motel with good maintenance. Helpful staff. Provide free coffee. The Mexican food truck accords the street is amazing!

We had the worst night sleep ever. The bed was SO uncomfortable. I could literally feel the springs in my body. Everytime we turned or moved the whole bed swueaked. Every pillow was as flat as a pancake. My husband had to get up and sleep on the 2 person sofa in the middle of the night and that was more comfortable than the bed. I folded up every blanket we had and laid the pillows in a line on the bed just so i couldn't feel the springs. I had nightmares all night long and dont think I slept more than a 20 min stretch at a time. Our son who has been hiking the PCT for the past 5 month's and who slept on the side of the road the night before says he slept like a baby... go figure! Do not recommend!

The room was not clean, bathroom was disgusting with hairs all over bathtub mat. Staff did not speak any English so they had to call someone over the phone every time we need to communicate with them. Rooms had old beat-up furniture, not a good place to stay at all.

Staff was especially helpful. Did their utmost to make limited ammenities available. Attention to detail in room and drinks available 24/7 in lobby. Small, older place in remote town outside of Crater Lake - you can walk the length of the town in 15-20 minutes. 2 of the 3 restaurants in town were closed on the day we were there (Monday&Tuesday closed). Mexican restaurant was at South end of the street and very good.

The staff at this property are very helpful and courteous. The rooms are clean. But the walls are thin (you can hear the truck traffic on the road and the people in other rooms), and everything is in need of an update. For the price, travelers should expect more — but it’s one of the few places with access to the north entrance of Crater Lake — supply and demand determine the price.

We were headed to Crater lake and it was only about 30 minutes. That is convenient considering the limited options around Crater Lake. Walkable to several cafes. Quaint but hardest bed I have ever slept on. Hotel is slightly run down, but adds to the quaint factor

Office smells like curry and staff was not very welcoming or friendly. Asked for extra towels and one was sticky so asked for more. Overall cleanliness was fair and room much smaller than advertised with no storage.

Thé lamp had a usb receptacle. The refrigerator was unplugged and not ready to use. The room smelled of chemicals and that smell permeated my luggage and clothing. Lights shown through the window and the noise from highway 97 kept me awake all night. I paid for two nights but left after one night because of the noise. No refund was given. This was my worst motel experience.

Positiv: Lage zum Park, Bett bequem. Nett dekoriert. Negativ: Lobby und Treppen und Flur stinkt nach indischer Küche. Würg. Dann zurück 20jahre. Schlüssel keine Karte, kein coffeemaker im Zimmer, Klimaanlage mit defekten knöpfen, Kühlschrank ausgesteckt somit keine sofortige Kühlung möglich. Beim Check-in hat TV nicht funktioniert, wurde aber gerichtet. Allerdings nicht bewegen sonst flackerbild oder weg. TV hat ca. 20zoll und ist zu weit weg um auch nur ansatzweise gut zu sehen. Wäre ja bei 80$ akzeptabel aber nicht bei 175$ Insgesamt überteuert und wegen dem Gestank nicht tragbar.
