The hotel is nice. Bigger than average rooms. Super close to Dotonbori and lots of restaurants ans stores. The hotel has a train station right next to it, but the main one for longer travels is 6 minutes away walking.

This is a landmark hotel with a history to tell. One is overawed by the illustrious guests she has entertained, including the much-loved Ike. It was Madame Chiang’s idea to build the hotel and she really got sense and taste. The traditional Chinese architecture is stunning and endearing. Though nowadays she has turned to a clientele of common mortals, the Grand Hotel never disappoints.

Location is good, Close to public transportation and convenient stores, Quiet neighbourhood. Provided good toiletries. They have no laundry facilities unlike what is listed. Cleanliness needs a lot of work. The room we have is very dusty and still have stain marks. It is also the same as the Smile Hotel we stayed at in Tokyo.

Torn carpets, dusty rooms and allergic reactions! This hotel was an absolute joke. No staff to help when our room had layers of dust everywhere and my partner and I both had allergic reactions to the sheets, which were clearly not sanitised. The location is great but the hotel is 1/10 at best. Avoid it at all costs, the pictures do not show how worn and run down the rooms are!

Excellent location but hotel premises are rundown

Hotel location is excellent - connected to Yotsubashi subway station on the blue line via an elevator from levels B2 to 1, with a supermarket and McD’s across the road. You can walk via underground mall Crysta Nagahori to Shinsaibashi subway station on the red Midosuji Line as well. Free amenities. But premises are old, rundown and smell smoky. Bed and pillow are hard and not very comfortable. Service was brusque but efficient enough, though most of the staff speak limited English. No daily housekeeping (every 3 nights) but fresh towels every day. We got the deluxe room so there was plenty of space and a city view.

Hôtel convenable mais sans le smile

Smile hôtel sans le smile… Chambres propres mais petites (apparemment le standard japonais mais bien plus petites et étriquées que celles que nous avons fait dans les autres villes). Toilettes japonaises fonctionnent mal, manque de flexibilité sur les horaires de check out (suite à divers problèmes de la chambre, ils nous offrent 30min de plus le matin pour finalement nous appeler avant…), difficile de communiquer, ne font pas trop d’effort même quand c’est écrit en japonais sur le traducteur… Hôtel très bien situé, à côté du métro et proche de Namba et Dontobori. Bon rapport qualité prix, mais… Bemol sur le personnel de l’hôtel qui n’est pas accueillant, ni souriant (comble pour un Smile Hôtel). Bon point car ils font l’envoi des valises dans le prochain hôtel, ce qui est pratique mais ne sont pas sympathiques comme les autres hôtels du Japon qu’on a pu faire.
