Stunning location with beautiful ocean views. The rooms at Sands are quite basic compared to the adjacent Cavalier. The prices (fair) reflect that. As far as I could tell they're one and the same property. Kind of like Toyota is to Lexus! You get full access to all the magnificent amenities whichever one you stay at. Pools, hot tub, restaurant are all excellent. The fire pits situated right on the bluffs are a perfect way to end one's night. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Sands and look forward to returning.

This is a beautiful property. I have stayed here several times, although this time I could really see the impact of the water shortage. The lawn area in the back of the property was not well kept. Stunning views and access to the beach is right there. Lawn games and fireplace we're great. The hotel room was just your average room. Though showing it's age, it was clean and the beds are comfortable. It's a short 7 min drive to Cambria and Hearst Castle is close by.

The beds, including the pillows, were very comfortable. However, the comforter, as is usually the case with comforters, was too warm, and just the sheet wasn't enough. Luckily, the wonderful ocean was lulling us to sleep just the same! Everything about the bathroom was clean & sparkling. I do think a more frequent shampooing of the carpet would be good, but this is the case just about everywhere. Parking was easy. Breakfast convenient and great. All in all, a good spot to stay!

we had to check in at the cavalier. everything was fine except the carpet in room needs cleaning and the toilet is very low
