I booked Hilton Garden Inn Shreveport for 3 nights (14th to 17th). My flight was delayed on the date of arrival (14th May) and I arrived on 15th May 2025. Hilton Garden Inn Shreveport denied me check in claiming they had cancelled the booking. But I was already charged the three days.
The manager/owner who was of Arabian origin, insisted I rebook and pay for another 2 days - he already had money for 3 days.
When I challenged him, he claimed Hotel.com would refund me for the remaining two days.
However, he threatened to call the police on me if didnt leave and commented that police would George Floyd me - a clear death threat.
This is my first direct experience of racism in the United States. The manager even threatened that he would block me from accessing any of his twelve properties and when I asked if he cared about customer service or reviews, he said he cared less.
I contacted Hotel.com who advised me to rebook another hotel as they pursued the matter with Hilton Garden Inn Shreveport. I booked, via Hotel.com, and stayed at Marriot Courtyard Shreveport for the two days. Then Hotel.com came back to say that Hilton Garden Inn Shreveport could not cancel my stay and refund. But I never asked for a cancellation - Hilton Garden Inn Shreveport unilaterally cancelled my booking and denied me check in after taking my money. So Hotel.com took money from me twice - this is unethical and outright theft of client funds
