Wonderful, friendly bar, staff, and a piano bar in the evenings that was just amazing. The hotel has the best view in all of Viejo San Juan. The place has a historic elegance and uniqueness that is hard to find.

This wasn’t a room to sleep in, but an immersive experience. In a city built in 1521, this property feels like one of the oldest. The character of The Gallery was one for lifetime memories. The staff were wonderful and there are many live-in parrots. The collection of art is better than a lot of museums. Just truly a special place.

This is one of the most amazing boutique hotels I’ve been to. The history, the stories, the space, the birds! It’s like walking through a museum. The room I was in was amazing: big, original doors and window doors, four-post bed, literally WC… just lovely. Highly recommend. The location is amazing. The rooftop bar has a great view. Rests and everything within walking distance.

The Gallery Inn is great, fun, music, staff, guests. Expedia/Hotel.com isn’t. Paid for a superior room, not a standard. Bait and switch… and their phones cut out. Can’t reach. Never again, any Expedia owned booker.

My stay at The Gallery Inn was a charming experience that truly reflects the historic homes and character of Old San Juan. It’s a great place to stay for a couple of nights right in the heart of the city. A few things could be improved. The hotel doesn’t have an elevator, and if your room is on the third floor, carrying luggage up the spiral staircase can be difficult. There is also no parking, so if you rent a car you’ll need to use nearby parking garages, which can be expensive. The water pressure, especially on the upper floors, is also quite low. On the positive side, the air conditioning worked perfectly (very important in Puerto Rico’s climate), and the Piano Bar area is beautiful—definitely worth stopping by for a drink as well as Nico’s Rooftop. Overall, a charming stay at a good price in Old San Juan.

Toilet didn’t flush, no water pressure. 3rd bed was horrible like a brick and not for an adult. That room was hot, noisy and bright all night. Bitten by a ton of mosquitos. Not suited for sleeping at all

It’s a gorgeous property! .. but we didn’t have hot water all weekend. The cold water pressure was low the entire weekend (pipe burst in town). Several restaurants in town closed due to the water situation. The cannon club next door had loud parties late hours each night, it’s tough if you need to sleep and travel early. The nice pool.. off limits to guests at this time, cannon club only. Piano bar was lovely and busy, unfortunately it made getting beer incredibly slow. I’ve recommended Old Gallery to several people but I think I would find better next time.

The location is great, the staff is nice and flexible, and the rooftop bar has an amazing view. But the rooms… We were told our room was not available and were moved to "Stevie." Later, we were offered to move to a smaller room with a view of the sea, but the shower didn’t allow us to adjust the temperature so we decided to stay in Stevie. In Stevie, the shower had very low pressure, and every time it took several minutes to get hot water. The room was a bit dusty. The bed was old and not very comfortable, but it was okay. Wi-Fi and the balcony were great bonuses.

Omg what a beautiful and zany place! I would say that although the experience had a lot of downsides, the upsides were so unique that you need to stay here at least for a night (or two). Maybe not 4 nights like I did - that was a bit much. The place is bursting at the seams with art, plants, and parrots. Most of the buildings look like they’re from the 1600s to 1800s. I had two large shutters that needed to be closed with a wooden bar. And my room was down a flight of stairs - inside the room. But you need to be careful - one time I forgot that there was no landing - that the top step was immediately upon opening the door - and almost fell down. My room was facing the dining area courtyard - where there was live music every day from 6 to 12 AM. There was also a sort of balcony right under my window - with two tables and 8 chairs. They were actually part of the dining area, but few people came up there. I only had to climb out the window and was essentially on my private balcony, enjoying the music downstairs. But be careful what you wish for - 4 nights of nonstop music can get to be a bit much. One night, the piano (which was also digital) kept playing music by itself until past 12 AM - until I got an employee to shut it off. Speaking of employees - the bartender at Nico’s Rooftop was extremely surly. I would give him a wide berth. Other issues: No face cloths in the room for 3 of the 4 nights. No tea kettle, cups, tea, or water in the rooms. Broken lamp. Generally dark.
Hilariously poetic!

Okay, this is a difficult one to review. Its a really cool, unique and eclectic place. HOWEVER, the way they advertise it needs yo change. I had emailed them 3 times to make sure there was parking because it is rare in Old San Juan. That is why I booked it because it said there was parking. THERE IS NOT PARKING. Do not even bring your car to old San Juan. Get an Uber from the airport and the. Go back and get your rental car when you are done. We showed up to the Gallery Inn at midnight and it was a madhouse with people and cars everywhere. No parking is on site at this hotel. The parking garage 4 blocks away is often times full which was our case. Do we had to drive all the way back to Regular San Juan and the cheapest hotel we could find last minute at 1 AM was $520! Thankfully that hotel said we could leave our car there and get an Uber to The Gallery Inn the next day to finish our stay. I thought the Gallery should give us a refund but they did not…nonetheless I will say then good about this place. It is walking distance to everything in Old San Juan if you are mobile. They have a great rooftop bar, piano bar, unique birds and art all on property. The rooms were artistic and lovely albeit old. Beds were comfortable. Staff were very sweet. Things to be aware of: this is an old building bc its OLD SAN JUAN it smells old and the plumbing is old. The walkways are real brick including in the hotel. This is not best for people with mobility issues. See rest of review on google.

In all my 40+ years of travel this was one, if not THE most magical hotel travel experiences I’ve ever had. The complex of buildings is over 300 years old and is full of history, art, colorful parrots and other birds in an amazing architectural and garden setting. Each of the 22 rooms is different. Mind you, it may not be for everyone, and if you find your comfort at a modern resort or generic chain hotel like the Marriott, perhaps you should choose that option. If your preference is with small boutique hotels with a lot of charm, character and interest, then stay at the Gallery Inn! It was clean, and the bed very comfortable. It was quiet and I slept well on nice sheets, with fresh towels, original art in the room, and a fantastic large terrace that overlooked Old San Juan. The air conditioning was great, and I would get up and turn it off in the night to open the terrace doors and let the cool breeze in. I loved it! The staff were professional, for the most part very friendly, and I felt welcomed and cared for. The Inn has a terrace bar overlooking the sea, a restaurant with good food, an amazing piano bar and salon with a gifted pianist playing every night. A shout out goes to musician extraordinaire Dave Hull, the staff, and everyone who made my stay memorable, including other talented performers, and interesting guests. I was glad to stay at my Galería “home” and wish I could have stayed longer.
