Hotel Alexandra has a lot going for it: the location is excellent, and the staff were consistently kind, helpful, and went out of their way to assist me. Rooms facing the square offer beautiful views, though there’s some noise until around 11:30pm. Courtyard-facing rooms are very quiet.
That said, the style of the hotel includes carpet in some rooms, padded headboards, and velvet drapes. While everything was kept very clean, the materials and limited airflow made it difficult for me as someone with asthma and dust sensitivity. I tried leaving the windows open, but without screens, I ended up getting bitten by mosquitoes at night, which ultimately forced me to find another hotel.
If you don’t have allergies or respiratory issues, this could be a very charming place to stay. But for travelers with sensitivities, it may not be the best fit—despite the staff’s truly excellent efforts.
