When we arrived having travelled 200 miles, we were shocked to be told our booking of a room with ensuite facilities had been cancelled. We were offered 2 rooms left to choose from (which weren't ready) but neither room was ensuite, so we refused. We were told by the person managing the property to wait, initially until around 6.30pm, which then became 8.30, when he could ask the people staying in the suite if they wanted to swap to a room without facilities! Exhausted from our journey, we accepted one of the available rooms, but were promised we'd be in a suite with ensuite facilities the next day. (The tiny shower - hardly wider than a toilet seat- was a long distance down a public corridor; the door stuck so had to be left open! Despite telling the manager, the lock wasn't mended. Zero toiletries & loo paper). Returning the next evening v tired to the house, we were told the promised ensuite wasn't available. We had no choice but to stay the 2nd night in a room without facilities & far from the shower. We discovered at around 10pm that ceiling lights could not be switched off but despite phoning the manager several times no one responded. A 2nd night was ruined. We had to leave around 8 am for a family engagement even though we were exhausted from poor sleep. Our treatment was appalling! The weekend was meant to be a family celebration, and my daughter who travelled with me was recovering from cancer treatment. The stress from our disastrous experiences created more
