To begin, I also stayed around the block at Citizen M about a month and half before... The staff and service were thousands of times more confident and capable. You should stay there plus it's close to train and you can see the Tower. It's got a better value and a rooftop bar. Plus they're super friendly.
Now DoubleTree:
Room was not as described in my listing. The hotel AND hotels.com both refuse to provide proper resolution for this.
We got one of the "newly renovated rooms". We made a reservation for 3 guests, for a "King Bed with Double Sofa Bed" and we simply did not get that room. There was no double sofa bed to be found and the room wasn't even prepped for 3 guests when we got there, had to call for sheets and towels TWICE.
Now the hotel is lying saying they offered "food and extra complements” which they never did... They also claim to have offered a different room, but not one that was correct, they offered a room with Two Twin Beds.
All the while, Hotels.com is sitting here apparently unable to process a refund for this mishap.
Ever since they stripped the rewards program, Hotels.com kind of sucks now.
I'll probably be reporting this stay to my credit card company and looking for a new hotel reward program.
Truly disappointing that neither company can fix a mistake that they made. I as a customer had nothing to do with this clerical error or misrepresentation and have spent far too much time giving them both an opportunity to correct this.
