hotel dilapidated, staff knocking on my door at 11pm looking for payment for room, tv did not work and going down to where breakfast was ,was like entering london dungeons

On arrival the lock on the room did not work. when raised with reception they stated that it had been changed several times, but the door would not lock from the inside. There was no consideration for safety. left without staying as did not feel safe

They are trying hard to improve the place. I had stayed there before when it was the Shelton, it was awful. They have a few rough edges they need to fix, then they would get a high score. There are lots of incomplete handyman or decorating projects incomplete. The basics were covered well, big towels, plenty of electric points and some near bed. Lot of hotels fail in that Cups were tiny expresso cups and no spoon.. As I was only there to sleep for one night ,I got good room at a good price for London. For under 60 quid with breakfast In London near rail link I'm not gonna complain much if its clean and comfortable. Room above had loud TV after 11pm, phoned reception, was sorted in 5 minutes.

The room (101) was very cramped, there is only 1 double socket in the room half way along the wall with the TV above, if you want to use the kettle you have to place it on the floor underneath the TV, likewise if you want to use the "bed side lamp" you have to place it at the bottom of the bed below the TV so it is no longer a bedside lamp. The shower head hangs down as the bracket / holder is broken. The website shows a nice breakfast bar whereas in fact breakfast is served in your room comprising of a cold sausage (singular) a fried egg again cold, a cold pot of baked beans, a hash brown fried to death and 2 rounds of toast without butter - no condiments nowhere to eat it (if you dared) other than sitting on your bed. When I took it back down to reception I was told no refund, I asked to see the breakfast room shown on the website but was told it is being refurbished, I said I would still like to see it as the picture looks like a nice clean modern hotel and nothing like the one experienced but the gentleman said it would not be possible. The hotel is very handy for the local train station which can be heard throughout the night. If I had paid £40.00 to £50.00 for the night I would have blamed myself but when it's double that I feel cheated.

Should do more maintenance, toilet doors would not close properly or lock. Every door squeaks so disturbing other customers and floors. No ups or cutlery to make tea or coffee etc. Very dated urgently needs decorating

The room was ok for one night. The staff were friendly and breakfast is brought up to your room. Unfortunately the room was too hot to be comfortable. There is a fan but it didn't do much in the heat wave! Bathroom was clean with a good shower. The cups in the room were dirty and there's no spoon to make a hot drink. Also the milk provided had gone off and was lumpy! Overall, it was ok and very affordable for London!
