The breakfasts are ordered to make. There are a wide varities of choices. The room fittings are true to picture. Even though it is a family room at the lower basement, the natural lighting and ventilation are acceptable.

The B&B had a lot of character. We booked a room for 3 people. The king bed was nice for 2 but the terrible sofa bed was not good for 3rd person. The creaky springs and terrible mattress were the worst I’ve seen. We ended up putting sofa bed cushions on the floor to be able to get any sleep. We slept on basement floor and there were no windows that we could open up to get fresh air. There was a strong perfume smell in hallway -not sure what it was. It was clean and quiet and breakfast was decent. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Three nights there was too many.

It was a lovely stay for a solo trip. The breakfast was tasty, and a lovely surprise to me that it was made to order! Also loved how easy it was to get to most places I wanted to see by foot. Would definitely stay here again if I find myself in Edinburgh.

Lovely hotel. We had a large family room with wonderful views. The staff were all friendly and efficient. What let it down badly was the quality of the breakfast. Hard, dried up bacon, hard rubbery scrambled eggs, burnt croissants. We saw someone else send their breakfast back. I would have happily returned to the hotel if it wasn’t for the breakfast.

Arrived at 2pm to find hotel doors locked. Rang bell to be greeted by a member of staff who advised that reception was closed and would open at 3.00 for check-in. She did offer for us to leave our case in the corner. Odd given the hotel advertise a bar open from 7.00 am until 11.00 pm! Comfortable room, although no safe. Breakfast service and the quality of food were very poor. Asked 4 times if we wanted tea or coffee but order didn’t arrive. Cooked breakfast was served to my wife 5 minutes after mine arrived and both arrived cold and inedible. Open buffet options available but no serving utensils meant guests were using their hands to help themselves to items including sliced melon, salad items and pastries. Not a pleasant experience and such a shame as it is a lovely building in a good location.

I was visiting Edinburgh for the half marathon. The room was very spacious with a extra large double bedding that looked out on a beautiful view. It also had a good sized sofa bed and separate room with bunk beds. The bathroom was nice with the most powerful shower that I have ever experienced!!. It felt like nuclear decontamination - amazing! It took much longer to get back from the race finish and I ran over my check out time but the staff were very accommodating and I was able to come back, shower and change. It is also not too far from the centre attractions and station - perhaps a 15/20 minute walk. I would stay here again for a longer visit or Edinburgh in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at B+N Edinburgh. Warm, friendly, and helpful staff helped make our stay as comfortable as could be. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and comfortable, with wonderful views of Dean Village. Breakfast was delightfully fresh and delicious, with several options to choose from. Bring comfortable walking shoes because you will be in walking distance of all the area has to offer. We highly recommend B+B Edinburgh!

Beautiful old building, room was clean and comfortable. It would have benefited from curtains as the blinds did not block out the sunlight. There were not enough staff on for breakfast and service was slow. No pastries available as advertised. Confirmation email states check in is from 11 and it wasn't until 3pm. Apart from this, staff were lovely, excellent location and beautiful building

Rigtig dejlig beliggenhed og vores værelse havde den vildeste og smukkeste udsigt! Dejligt stort værelse med masser af lys. Desværre opdager vi kort efter ankomst, at vores afløb på badeværelset er næsten helt stoppet; vi gør med det samme opmærksom på dette og får beskeden, at det ved personalet godt, det er en gammel bygning og alle værelser er optaget, så kort sagt må vi bare leve med det. Og bevares det gør vi så. Da vi dagen efter kommer retur først på aften efter en lang dag med sightseeing, finder vi vores værelses dør ulåst! Rengøring har altså ikke låst efter sig og vores værelse har stået til fri adgang med vores ejendele til fri disposition?!?! Igen gør vi med det samme opmærksom på dette til personalet og bliver mødt med et ‘Okay, no problem’ - jo, det er et problem!!! Glashylden på badeværelset var også i stykker og blev fixet med en teske?!?! Vi har 3 overnatninger og er jo overordnet tilfredse nok, men det giver et dårligt indtryk at man ikke tager det alvorligt, vores dør ikke er løst efter rengøring, og at man kender til et stoppet afløb og ikke handler på det! Den generelle rengøring af værelset var okay bortset fra gulvtæppet, der allerede ved ankomst var fyldt med hundehår og tydeligvis bar præg af en knap så grundig støvsugning… En ærgerlig oplevelse i en ellers virkelig smuk gammel bygning, hvor værelsets størrelse og udsigt er dét der trækker anmeldelsen op på 3 stjerner.

The hotel building itself is gorgeous. I've stayed before, which is why my partner and I opted to stay again. Unfortunately, this time we got a room with a sloped ceiling (4th floor), which I suspect was one of the cheaper petite rooms as it looked the same as the one in the petite pics (I booked a standard). My partner is 6'3 so hit his head a few times, and the room felt cramped. The chair was more shabby than chic, and the painted furniture was all chipped. It was the last available room so they couldn't swap us. Comfy bed, and good breakfast though.
