Incredibly helpful and kind staff. Great breakfast buffet with a huge selection. The room was large and very clean. The bed was huge and really comfortable.

Angra Marina Hotel (Azores, Terceira)
I stayed at this hotel in April 2025. Perfect location, close to everything. Nice ocean views from my room (a big balcony): a fortress, a port, mountains. Staffs were very helpful and accommodating. My room was clean and good value for the money. They offer a good breakfast!

Property itself was good. Breakfast was very good. My only complaint is the parking situation and the underground parking is terrible ( my opinion), very steep and narrow. Very dark, there were absolutely no lights underground. I’m a female who travelled solo, so this is very important to me.
Otherwise it’s a great location.

O melhor aspecto foi a amplitude e disposição do quarto, com varanda e vista para a Marina de Angra. Alojamo-nos apenas 1 noite, pelo que não foi possível utilizar outros serviços além do peq. almoço, que era diversificado e servido em espaço amplo (restaurante). Aconselhamos e voltaríamos numa próxima visita a Angra.

La chambre était très spacieuse, confortable et bien équipée. Cependant, elle était situé juste dessous le restaurant donc, beaucoup de bruit de chaises et de tables. Nous avons demandé à changer mais il n’y avait aucune disponibilité.
De plus, un soir, nous avons mangé au restaurant où nous avons commandé un plat de tagliatelles au saumon et nous avons eu une salade avec 4 morceaux de saumon. Le second plat était du thon avec une sauce. On nous a servi un poisson qui n’était pas du thon et sans sauce. Et quand nous l’avons fait remarquer au serveur, celui-ci nous a répondu que tout était normal.
Je dirais donc que la partie restauration était très décevante et très chère proportionnellement à ce qui nous a été servi

WOST EXPERIENCE EVER
On my second day, I greeted the maintenance lady and made sure the sign was up for room cleaning service, left the room (and double checked that the door was well closed) and was out for the day. When I came back, my backpack that I’ve put in a strategical position was open and on the floor, my passport out of the front pocket and my money out of my passport case (a bit over 200€ cash). My clothes were initially in packing cubes in my suitcase. When I came back, some clothes that I haven’t pulled out nor worn yet and were completely at the bottom of my suitcase were either out of it or on top of my clothes pile! I warned the hotel manager about it and he automatically blamed me for not putting my stuff in the locked safe!!! I even referred him to the European Tourism Law, art. 1039 a) of the civil code but nothing.
I needed that money for the rest of my trip, especially for taxis since most of them don’t accept Apple Pay. Uber isn’t supported on Terceira island, Bolt drivers were all busy and I could only book an airport shuttle reservation for the next day. The manager didn’t want to compensate me or anything. I asked an employee at the lobby if he could order me a taxi that would accept Apple Pay and he accepted. Quick phone call and he confirms that a taxi will pick me up shortly. I asked him if he told the driver that I could only pay with Apple Pay to which he said yes but when the taxi arrived, he said that he didn’t accept tap credit card.

Cet hôtel ne mérite pas ses 5 étoiles. Chambre malpropre, moisissure sur les rideaux de douches et bains, drains bloqués, chambre vide, insectes dans la chambre. La suite ne correspondait absolument pas aux photos. Nous avons trouvé des cheveux dans les draps.

Die Lage des Hotels ist sehr gut mit Blick auf die Marina.
Das Zimmer ist geräumig und hat einen Balkon.
Die Beleuchtung im Zimmer wird über eine Fernbedienung geschaltet, allerdings funktionierte dies nicht komplett.
Die Meldung hierzu an die Rezeption wurde dort auch schriftlich dokumentiert, es hat sich aber - an beiden Tagen - nichts geändert. Mit viel Aufwand wurde dennoch im Schaltkasten eine Lösung gefunden, um wenigstens nachts im Badezimmer die Lampe auszuschalten.
Selbst in einem 5* Hotel sollte es normalerweise möglich sein, auf Kundenhinweise nachhaltig zu reagieren. Offensichtlich hat das Management aber hieran kein Interesse und das insgesamt freundliche Personal machte einen unzufriedenen Eindruck in dieser Hinsicht.
Das Frühstück ist sehr umfassend, aber sämtliche Speisen waren maximal lauwarm.

PAS un hôtel 5 étoiles!
Grand hôtel qui a connu des jours meilleurs…
Le buffet du petit déjeuner ne correspond pas du tout à ce qu’on peut attendre d’un 5 étoiles: œufs, jambon, fromage, pain… aucune variation et les pâtisseries étaient franchement immangeables. Le ménage des parties communes n’a pas été fait de la semaine: escaliers, piscine, etc. On nous a fourni une bouilloire sur demande, le coffre ne fonctionnait pas, la literie était acceptable mais les coussins remplis de boules et de vide, les serviettes de bains étaient déchirées à force de s’élimer et les produits de bains semblaient mélangés avec de l’eau. Chaque jour amenait un nouveau problème: lavabo bouché, fuite sous lavabo, climatisation soufflant du chaud, fuite de graisse suite à réparation de la clim… le spa était fermé, nous avons pu avoir un service de massage sur rdv avec une intervenante extérieure. La piscine était proche du délabrement, 19 degrés C. 2 étages de l’hôtel étaient fermés, ceux donnant sur la marina, par conséquent il fallait marcher environ 15 min pour rejoindre le centre ville, via une pente pavée à 70 degrés (handicapés ou blessés s’abstenir)! Le restaurant de l’hôtel était uniquement sur réservation. Enfin le personnel était éteint, pas désagréable mais ni motivé ni souriant. Au mieux, je donnerai un niveau 3 étoiles pour la prestation de service en dehors du design de l’hôtel, qui effectivement avait été pensé pour être de qualité bien supérieure.

Pros: good location, great views, above average included breakfast, functioning wifi
Cons: aging infrastructure, particularly HVAC (air conditioning), inconvenient garage features will have you prefer to resort to limited street parking, Inconsistent staff, some attentive, others lacking problem resolution and basic customer service skills.
Air conditioning broke on first night and was reported to concierge in the morning. We notified that we were about to leave for sight seeing for several hours and that it would be a great opportunity to have it fixed while we were absent. Apparently, despite this verbal interaction with the concierge, the "do not disturb" sign we had left on in the room was blamed for the reason why the technician could not go in the room to try to fix the reported broken AC, and since maintenance was already gone for the day, we would be sleeping in a hot room as result. Unacceptable. So we requested a new room, and were initially told they couldn't accomodate because hotel was full. I then noticed several keys set aside for yet to be checked in guests, and it was unfortunate that I had to remind staff that PRESENT guest have priority over NOT YET guests. Luckily, these customer service basics that I had to point out resonated with the staff member of the afternoon shift, and she proceeded to get management involved and got us another room. We appreciate her very much and hope management recognizes her for her excellence.

THIS IS NOT A 5-STAR HOTEL!
When my husband and I arrived at the hotel the lobby was deserted. There was no doorman or bellman to greet and help with our luggage. The huge lobby with worn-out furniture was empty. There was no one at the front desk. Behind the front desk was a board that was taped up. Clearly, these were all uncharacteristic of a 5-star hotel. This is a one-star compared to the 5-star and 4-star hotels we stayed at on another Azores island, Sao Miguel. I thought the taxi dropped us off at the wrong hotel.
A few minutes later, a lady came behind the front desk. She was not dressed in professional attire like what you normally see in nice hotels. To our disappointment, she confirmed that we were at the right hotel. Our room was not ready, and she asked us to bring our luggage ourselves to the storage room, which was dirty and smelly. My husband and I were disappointed with what we had seen so far and were quite nervous about the condition of our room.
The room turned out quite spacious albeit sparse and dated furniture. We were at least relieved that it was clean and had no smell. However, many things malfunctioned - the A/C, toilet flush, coffee machine. We complained about the AC to the front desk. He was not surprised as he said it was a usual occurrence. He said the hotel was full and could not transfer us to another room. He promised to send a fan while he schedules a technician to come. Neither came. Thankfully, the temperature cooled down
