I recently stayed at the 1 Hotel in New York, and while the staff were absolutely wonderful — kind, polite, and very professional — the property itself was a huge disappointment. The service is truly top-tier, but the hotel’s condition does not match the brand’s reputation.
If you’re expecting the same experience as the 1 Hotel in Miami, you’re out of your mind — it’s nowhere close. The New York location feels worn down and poorly maintained. My room had multiple issues: the air conditioning didn’t work on the first day, the safe drawer was completely off the rail and ended up breaking, and the outlets were loose and unsafe, which made it impossible for my girlfriend to even do her hair the first night. The elevators also felt like they could break down at any moment.
It’s disappointing because the staff did everything they could and were a pleasure to deal with, but the property itself desperately needs maintenance and upgrades. When I return to New York in 90 days, I won’t be booking here again unless I have no other choice. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this hotel to my friends or family.
